How to catch a monster.

Characters: Au!Yuna and Fai and anyone who wants to stumble across them.
Where/When: Outside Aqures Ixen, Back dated: 20th April
Summary: Yuna is helping Fai get used to monster hunting.
Warnings: Fighting if that counts

Yuna tapped her shoe against the ground waiting for Fai to catch up. She was moving quickly hoping to find something that they could catch.

“Hey! Over here!” She wasn’t being quiet but she didn’t feel the need to be. She was going to at least show him the gist of it though she was sure that he could figure it out on his own. They just needed to run into something. Bombs were common enough and Yuna knew she could catch one on her own if need be. It was a start and with red mage equipped she can focus on healing.

She turned away from him glancing at the horizon. They were bound to run into something sooner or later.

Fai rode over on Big Yellow, knowing full well that she would want to come along and also the fact that some of his abilities come from him being a Chocobo Knight, so as he caught up the chocobo rushed over, happy to see the other before rubbing her head against them.

"Big Yellow, don't do that. I know you like people, but we are trying to do something. You'll get attention as soon as you can get it." To stop her though, he lightly patted her on the head.

Once he managed to gain control he looked around himself, seeing if he could see anything from the distance. "How about... That way. I am seeing something, but I can't say I know for certain."

Yuna giggled at the chocobo's greeting. She didn't mind and she lightly pet the large bird with a smile. He had a very good mount.

She was just walking not having thought to fetch a chocobo since none of her abilities are tied to it.

"Sure. We'll eventually run into something." Yuna glanced over seeing what perhaps could be a bomb or elemental. Either way it would be a perfect thing to start with.

"Let's go!"

"I'll make sure Big Yellow keeps up the steady pace, so not to get far ahead. Because otherwise that wouldn't be so fun to run head first into a troublesome situation." He said with a slight chuckle before lightly kicking his companion who simply walked next to the other, making her way towards the direction Fai had turned to.

"So how many times do you do this whole monster hunting thing?" he asked, giving them something to do until they got there.

Yuna kept her palm on the big bird, lightly scratching it's neck as they walked. It was a good way to keep him at her pace since he appeared to enjoy her affectionate touch. She glanced back at Fai's question and smiled.

"At least once a month. Sometimes more if people get bored."

Sometimes more if people get bored? He wondered how people could even get bored here really. It wasn't long until he stopped, slowly moving his hand to grab a arrow from his quiver and grab his bow. He could tell it was defiantly a monsters and by the looks of it something that wasn't al that powerful. Maybe a few hit would do it.

As he put the arrow to the bow and arched it back, he made sure to pay close attention to his aim. He was use to using something like this, but it had been a couple of months since he last used it.

"I'll take the first show if that is okay?"

Yuna looked out spotting the floating creature. She knew what it was but she was blanking on it's name; bur? Something like that.

"Go for it."

She took out her own bow and began to knock an arrow. This wouldn't be so hard if they both shot at it from here. It wasn't all that strong. Though there were a few monsters on the plans that could cause them some trouble.

"I will follow your lead."

Fai had stopped listening, instead he was focused for once of the target ahead. His eyes narrowed slightly as he pulled back a little more on the bow string. He felt like that would be enough to hopefully get it from here without having to move in closer.

Once he felt more confident he used Aim to improve his eyesight for the minute that he felt he needed for this shot, after a few short seconds he used Heavy Shot before unleashing it towards the eye of the creature knocking it down as he moved his bow down with a small smile.

"I guess I'm not rusty at all."

Yuna laughed softly. "See, you didn't even need me." She slung her bow of her shoulder not yet ready to put it away. They still might run into something stronger.

Her eyes shift from Fai over to the create that was now falling closer to the ground. It didn't looked like he killed it so they were good on that front.

"Assuming it isn't dead, now we send it to the monster arena."

"Oh, I know how to fight. I just never have hunted to not kill before." He admitted as he looked over at her slightly. He did this kind of thing for work sometimes, it was something he had been use to.

"It shouldn't be, I think it's just stunned, but best way to know is to check." With this he gets off Big Yellow, keeping her with Yuna, he started to make his way over, slowly and carefully.

Once he was close enough he noticed that they were still moving, so that was okay enough for him to move his head slightly.

"Still alive!" He said happily waving his arm to signal that she could come on over.

Yuna laughed, slowly walking forward with big yellow at her side. She made sure to keep petting the chocobo so he wouldn't get nervous without Fai by his side.

"Then catch it!" She shouted with a wide smile.

It didn't take to long to get closer and she spotted the little flying thing wounded from Fai's arrow. It had been a perfect hit.

"How exactly does one catch it? I know that one can use ropes or something." If he had to, he thankfully brought some for just in case and if they were needed for one reason or another as he walked towards the flying thing to slowly wrap his arms around it so it wouldn't try and fly off.

"I borrowed a special set of arrows. It will transport the monster to the arena." Yuna took an arrow from her quiver. This one was bright blue compared to the modest colored ones. She knocked the arrow and then watched as it pierced the fluttering creature.

She sighed softly watching it vanish. "Other than that you can equip the beast master job which has an ability to catch them."

Yuna's smile remained wide as her hand absently petting big yellow. She was enjoying the large birds company.

Big Yellow's head moved to lightly rub up against the other, enjoying all the attention she was getting as Fai couldn't help but laugh, putting his bow down to the side of him for the moment. That was one monster down there were god knows how many more to find and get.

He wanted to see what his limit is himself.

"I see. I think next time I'll get myself some of those arrows." he said making his way towards Big Yellow as he rubbed her feathery head with a smile "Okay Yellow, I know you love your attention but we still have work to do." He spoke as Yellow was still happily enjoying getting all the attention.

Yuna smiled pulling 6 from her side. She had a few more but she would give these to Fai for now. "Here. Take these. Try and use then last or it will waist them."

She holds them out with one hand and for the moment stops petting big yellow. The bird didn't seem to happy except that now Fai was back with that.

"We can keep looking for more."

[[ooc: I was thinking they run into a Weryn or something strong like that?]

He smiled as he reached out to take them carefully, before putting them in his quiver for the mean time.

"Thank you, Yuna-chan, I'll be sure to use them only when needed." With his free hand he had already been petting his chocbo who still wasn't happy she wasn't getting all the attention from both of them.

"I'll be happy with looking around some more." He said happily, knowing that he would like to have a little challenge at least. Fighting weaker monsters would get boring otherwise.

[OOC: That would be fine.]

"Sure!" Yuna smiled bringing her palm across the chocobo's glistening feathers. They really were amazing creatures and she was sad to know they were slowly dying off in her own world. Her head canted to the side in thought before turning a random direction and walking.

"Let's go this way!"

The plains were vast but there were still clusters of trees that dotted the horizon. That's where Yuna was headed, a particularly small cluster of trees that would provide them rest or possible another fight.

Fai had gone to quickly get back onto his trusty chocobo steed before kicking off, causing Big Yellow to trail behind the other for a moment. His eyes looked over the vast plains and he couldn't help but smile. It seemed like there could be an adventure just by watching.

"You know, I've been thinking if this world is much bigger than the ones I've been to. I mean I didn't explore far, so I can't really say though." He said giving a light chuckle all the while keeping an eye out for other monsters.

"Oh?" Yuna gazed over the plains taking the time to see every detail before glancing back at Fai.

"I always thought world were the same size, it all depended on where you could go. Where I was before here. The city. Well it was really small but I don't think it was the only thing in that world. I think there is more out there. Someone told me there was all sorts of world and they were all sorts of sizes with all sorts of people." Yuna's hands moved as she spoke, her eyes lighting up with each word.

"That's what I thought. One might only stay in one place but there are cities and such outside of the one you come to know." As he spoke he put a hand lightly on his head to look around briefly.

"It's one thing to be told though it's another to actually see it with ones own eyes." He soon stopped, pausing off into the distance.

"I believe I can see something over there. Can you?"

Yuna's thoughts stopped and she looked off to where Fai indicated. She did see something but she didn't know what just yet. She took her bow form her shoulder knocking an arrow and then using Aim to get a closer look.

It looked to Yuna like a dragon of some sort or Wyern. She lowered her bow and glanced up at Fai.

"This one will be a little harder. You up for it?" Her two toned gaze shined brightly excited at the prospect of fighting something stronger.

Fai steadied Big Yellow, knowing that she was starting to get a little anxious at the thought of fighting a tougher opponent, but for Fai it felt like a challenge he didn't want to refuse right now. He knew he could do it if he tried at least.

"I'm always ready when you are, Yuna-chan~" He said cheerfully as he set up his bow and arrow, knowing that he would rather get in a little closer first before doing anything. "Whenever you are ready, we will start."

She nodded and then looked up at the brave knight atop his chocobo. She didn't know how this would go but they were a decent team when you put there skills together. Yuna lowered her bow moving from her way and switching to her staff.

"I'll focus on healing should we need it. You try and keep it's attention and we should be able to get through it." She smiled. "Might be a long fight."

It was worth to see how their endurance fared.

He nodded, kind of hoping that it would be a long fight. He was starting to wonder if Kurogane was rubbing off on him when it had come to this type of thing, or if his boredom had gotten him too much.

As he made his way much closer, his bow was drawn. He was ready to distract should he need to. He knew he need to keep it away from Yuna at least. So with that in mind he fired the first shot, causing it to look over. It was ready to start going towards him as he reared up, using the lance he always kept with him as well.

"Alright, ready to go Big Yellow. Time to be a knight this time." With the bow away and his lance now in his hand he looked over to Yuna, hoping that it wouldn't notice her.

The creature roared as the arrow struck it but as expected it looked as if it didn't do much damage. It's large wings flapped and expanded as it moved to claw at the chocobo and his rider.

Yuna rose her staff casting protection on Fai as it moved surrounding him in the warmth of the spell before the creature could land it's attack. This was at least the sort of fight she was used too.

Fai figured it wouldn't do much. It seemed much tougher after all. But as he moved backwards slightly, preparing for a Choco Flame attack. As he raised his spear, he made sure the fire attack connected before making Big Yellow trot to the side, managing to just avoid the attack.

"That was pretty close, this guys a little toughie. How cute... It thinks it will win." He said letting out a light chuckle as this time he charges at it jabbing it with his spear.
