Summary: As the Heroes of Light were transported to the past, they now have the possibility explore Aqures Tosf and take part in the events that ultimately led to their arrival in Crystallis. Feel free to start your own threads with your own prompts for everything your characters will do during this week! ( flitting about for the past few days, meredy had happened upon ven while he was out like a light more than once. because of that she'd been able to worry over him in silence before heading off somewhere.

but today, she'd brought something. if he was sleeping still she would leave it beside him, warm soup she'd purchased in the town. it had smelled a little bland, but, that sort of thing was good when you were recovering or something... probably.

as she made her way inside the church, she looked at the spot she'd seen him last, surprised to see that he was awake -- ) Ven, Ven! ( she called, rushing over towards him. ) You are finally awake!

[He looks up and over at his name, instantly smiling when he spots his housemate.]

Meredy!

[Ven doesn't move from his spot -- or... at all, really, besides, the turn of his head -- but his expression radiates his usual energy.]

Oh -- yeah, I guess I've been out a lot, huh? [Enough that he's not even sure what day it is. Or how many days it's been.]

( she comes crashing to a stop just in front of him, dropping to her knees, looking him over. ) Meredy was very worried... What happened in the battle?

Ah... ( her gaze finally dipped downward, the container she'd been carrying looking a little worse for wear, some of the soup managing to splash out even with a lid on... ) So much was happening -- Ultima Weapon was so scary.

( she's moving much more carefully now, removing the food she'd brought from her bag, and laying it out. ) Here, for you.

Uh... a lot of things, I guess... nothing too bad, though! [Lie. Sort of? Depending on one's definition of "bad." But he survived! And the worst injury was before Ultima, anyway... Maybe he shouldn't admit that.

But hey, there's food!]

Oh -- thanks! You didn't have to do that. [Although he actually hasn't eaten much due to all that sleeping. Either way, it's appreciated, and simple soup does seem more appealing at the moment than all that rich food that's been brought.] What about you? Did you make it through okay?

Of course! ( she's looking stern for once, though it's pretty obvious she won't be able to keep it up for long, and it quickly softens -- ) Because -- we are friends, right? ( and plus she already said she was worried... she continued to set up her makeshift picnic, and when she was done, thrust a spoon towards ven )

Yes, well... ( she looked aside -- ) Meredy was working to help hack Ultima Weapon. ( a sigh... ) It worked, but... ( lots of people got hurt. people like you, roomie. )

'Course we are! [Ven nods in emphasis of that as he accepts the spoon and soup gratefully, shifting his good leg a bit so that he can balance the back of his hand comfortably on his knee; but his cheer does sober a bit as he adds,] But... I didn't mean to make you worry. Sorry about that.

[He's visibly impressed at the mention of the Ultima Weapon, and when Meredy doesn't finish her thought, Ven picks it up for her.]

But nothing! You all did great! It really helped turn things around, you know? [He tilts his head some -- a little self-reprimanding, but in good humor.] All that computer stuff is beyond me, even with those new jobs we got. What you did was really impressive!

[And he might've gotten smacked around by that thing, but he didn't die. That's the main thing in the end, isn't it?

But even if he had died, he still wouldn't hold it against anyone.]

Meredy will forgive you. This time at least! ( it was a joke of course, one that was accented with the smile that she wore easily again -- and quickly evolves into a reddening of her cheeks when he goes on... )

Celestia is full of many machines! Many technologies too -- though they are different than here in Crystallis, Meredy's teacher would be very impressed, probably! ( a student under an engineer herself, taking on the engineer job brought memories of their time together back... )

But hacking, that is new to Meredy. It is a good thing Chiaki made a game for practice -- Hack Hack Revolution! ( she laughs a little, recalling the time she spent playing, as the only one that seemed to really appreciate it -- ) It was like dancing, but with your fingers, instead!

( but of course, that brings her back to the reality of the situation. if she'd been more proficient, maybe they wouldn't have had so many losses... maybe some of the damage could have been avoided... well, it was another one for the guilt bank. )

I am... glad you are okay though, Ven. When this is over... let us go home together, okay?

[He laughs at the joke, but he subdues a bit more than usual to keep his motions to a minimum. Still, he's obviously glad.]

Heh... I'm still surprised, honestly. That thing didn't look like something you could control with a machine. [And learning how to do so via a game...? Well, Ven was raised to expect, acknowledge, and respect the major differences between worlds; that acts as a pretty effective cushion against shock and disbelief more often than not.

Plus, y'know, he totally trusts his roomie.

He nods at that last remark, though, his smile more serious, somehow.]

Yeah, same here. I got a little worried, too, y'know? [Fortunately -- or not -- he was able to keep his mind occupied.] It feels like forever since we've been home, now that I think about it... I'll be glad when we get back. [Whatever state it's in. If it didn't survive the assault, well... that's two homes he's lost now, but he's wiser because of it. He knows a home isn't a neighborhood, a plot of land, or even the dwelling itself, whether it's a two-story house or an ancient castle.

He's probably let the soup cool enough by now, so he pauses long enough to try it -- and shoots Meredy an instant smile.]

This is really good! Did you go all the way to the city for it?

You bet! Aqures Tosf has many things, some things not even from Aqures Ixen! ( too bad it was all about to get obliterated to itty bitty pieces. )

Meredy... does not know when the magic that sent us here will wear off, but after all that has happened now... being home will be nice. Quickie must be lonely... ( home is a nice place... not the home she longed for, but a home all the same -- somewhere to feel warm and calm, and with trusted friends. )

But until that happens, you must take it easy, okay Ven? ( raising back up to her feet, she donned her best serious look again, trying to emulate the way farah might talk to the boys. pointing a finger down at him, her other hand found her hip. ) Meredy does not want to see you get hurt any more, so no matter what happens... Meredy will come and protect you, Ven does not always have to be the one to fight, so you must remember that!

[He can't help breaking into a slight grin when that Serious Look comes back, but he does his best to stifle it, lips pressed together as he nods.]

Yes, ma'am. You got it.

[But then the humor does taper off for real, and it's a gentler smile this time.]

...And -- thanks, Meredy. I'll make sure to protect you, too, when you need it.

[And not just because it's his duty, either. Not as a Keyblade wielder, not even as a good person -- but as a friend.]

...But we can relax for now, don't you think?

( at his words, she softened completely again, her eyes bright with happiness. her hands clasped near her chest as she smiled, closing her eyes for a moment, and repeating much more softly -- ) You bet.

( friends! they really were friends, weren't they? aside from galenos and quickie, meredy was pretty lacking in the friend department. the four inferians she'd met in her had been the few she could count amongst those numbers, and now to think, she was friends with someone from an entirely new world!

she was alive with warmth, letting it radiate inside -- until a loud, gurgling sound sounded from her stomach. ) Urk--! ( after all that she'd forgotten to get something for herself!

embarrassed, one of her hands rubbed at her head and the other covered her stomach while she laughed. ) Ahahaha... I am sorry!

[Ven blinks at that interruption, but quickly breaks into a grin and a laugh, as well.]

Heh, don't worry about it. But why don't we go ahead and eat together? If you're not too busy.
