Of course there was no way that Zack was letting his best friend fight alone. There were plenty of other places he could have been like standing off against Sephiroth again or over there with Genesis. But even if Cloud didn't know it, he owed the kid. Owed the kid more than words could ever express or actions could be done.

So when MarKus started spouting stuff about justice he took a step in front of the guy. Zack can look pretty intimidating when he wants to and now is one of those moments. He looked every inch of his six foot one and the sword strapped to his back was as big as Yuffie was.

"We're not here to serve justice, we're here to save her." His hand landed on MarKus' shoulder. "So be a hero and help us."

Or else you'll deal with me his tone seemed to imply. Zack wandered away from them to move closer to Cloud and Tifa though he doesn't interrupt. If anyone can through to her, it's Cloud.
