Christmas Party & Cheer

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[The smile that forms on Cloud's face behind that beard is undoubtedly the biggest and most genuine one Elena's ever seen on the blonde. It's a bit unnerving really. But he does indeed seem to be enjoying himself.]

I've been using the Santa Job we got to help set up this village. You should have gotten it too. Check with your moogle.

[He chuckles and pulls the bag away from her as she tries to peak inside.]

And this is a sack full of gifts for everyone.

[Unnerving is right. She's only see Cloud smile a few times prior to arriving here, all of which were muted, demure, and self-depreciating. This was something wholly different - and not all that bad. Once she could get used to it.]

I'll pass. I look better in blue than in red.

[When the bag is pulled away, Elena pouts. And then, realizing that she was, quickly corrected her expression to cool interest.]

Did you make all those yourself?

[Cloud catches that pout. You can't hide your feelings from Santa Cloud! Reaching into the bag he pulls out a wrapped gift.]

No. I'm afraid I'm not that skilled, but I made sure to get something for everyone, even if it's a small little thing.

[He offers her the box, all nicely wrapped and tied with a bow. Should she open it now or later she'll find a black-blue scarf with an approximation of the ShinRa logo on the end of it. While he has his doubts about the Company now, he doesn't consider Elena an enemy.

And why would Santa Cloud hold a grudge even if he did?]

[She's going to damn well try! Its so very hard to not become emotionally invested in the people living there - especially ones that she's had previous relationships with.]

That's okay, its the thought that - wait, what?

[Oh. Oh no. What was he doing? What was he giving her? She wasn't prepared! She hadn't done anything for the holiday and here he was giving her a box with pretty wrappings and a bow and she came empty handed.]

Cloud. I..ah.. [With very slow, careful movements, she takes the box from him and brings it in towards her belly. The way she holds it is a little awkward, like the box itself was so incredibly fragile.] Thank you. I'm sorry, I don't have anything to give you in return.

[He smiles and shakes his head.] Don't worry about it. I just hope the gift does you some good. As long as it's useful to you then that's enough. Ho ho ho!

[The Job was a bit insidious in the way it filled him with joy at the act of giving gifts. At least he could feel it wasn't addictive, at least no more than any other act of kindness. Seeing that she's getting flustered he hefts the sack back onto his shoulder.]
