Sephiroth - Plains of Sorrow - OTA [& 4 squads of Esdham troops]

Sephiroth wouldn't ever picture himself getting that close to a malboro in the first place. Indeed, for such a large monster to have gotten that close would have to be a result of a particularly foul bad breath. Or at the very least a bad turn of the confused ailment.

"Oh yes. All the time." He brushed off a reply like it were the easiest thing in the world to admit. Looking back over and behind Kidd a little before he settled on her face to add to his comment. "On the first encounter, there isn't anyway to know how close these creatures are to those back home. Especially for those that are here, and not so well-documented other than vague warnings from the locals."

Sephiroth cracked a smile, as he fondly remembered that fear is just another challenge to overcome; and he does love a challenge.

"It wouldn't be half as satisfying, if one knew exactly what to expect. It's all about rising over that fear, and remaining open-minded."

Kidd offered a slow and thoughtful nod in response. If she had come with her other jobs, the ones she was more experienced with, she'd probably be craving that thrill of discovery as well. As an Assassin she'd certainly try to get on one of those Behemoth's backs while fighting one. And that was to say nothing of the Long Gui.

At the moment her dabbling in magic was to help her unlock new potential to aid her work here, but the Jobs came with a flimsiness that she was unused to. She realized it was that inner knowledge that made all else here seem that much bigger and put that knot in her belly. The gap was clear and she was not used to being the one being watched over in a group.

"I suppose you're right. The rear courage and strength is being able to strike out into the unknown no matter which world you're in. and I suppose nature remains just as fickle no matter what shape it forms." As deadly as these monsters could be, they had nothing on the storms she'd seen in her time at sea.

"Ah forgive me. I must be tired and my mind playing tricks on me. Sorry for troubling you with my questions."

Sephiroth - Plains of Sorrow - OTA [& 4 squads of Esdham troops]

On occasion Sephiroth did enjoy the thrill of a monster hunt; he'd even taken a quick bounty up with Umiko on the first time they'd come to Mysidia. All just to see how he'd fare against the new monster types even if it wasn't strictly part of the scope of his job within the military. On his part, it had been a struggle, but that's no surprise considering he was still neglecting to advance on Paladin and preferring to store up experience in his orb for the time being.

He were less capable in battle than he might otherwise be, with another max job equipped, but most of the time he found that Warrior alone was just as viable. No such job combination would grant Sephiroth the strength that he wanted back; which was why his work on the Custom Job back in Aqures would have to be picked up again soon.

"It's no trouble at all." For all Sephiroth was an expert at seeming intimidating without any effort, he sounded honest.

"That said; perhaps not quite in such a reckless of a way." Though he nodded all the same; understanding. "I prefer to be able to at least reasonably judge before just leaping into things."

Kidd smiled at Sephiroth, happy with his answer. "Well then, glad to hear it. It's good to have someone on our side who knows how to mix strength with discretion. It's no wonder things went the way they did without you in that vision." Raising her fist, she gave his shoulder a light jab as she walked past him.

"I'm a light enough sleeper. If something too big for you to handle on your own decides to rear its head feel free to wake me up. Otherwise, I'm going to get some rest so I can enjoy more walking tomorrow." She shot him a sly smirk. She didn't really want him to run into any trouble but it would be more interesting than the landscape they'd been dealing with on this trip.

He turned with the jab to his shoulder; even though it was light and he understood well enough the friendly meaning, it was Kidd's comment that earned him pause. Very little had been told to Sephiroth yet, by any of those that he had watched over while they'd slept, having gone to visit the Sage and were apparently 'learning' of the answers. So to have such a comment leveled at him; that he hadn't just overhead in passing, felt significant.

Perhaps he might be putting a little too much weight onto that thought, though. At the very least, it made sense that he wasn't part of that potential future and that was the reason he hadn't been sleeping like everyone else. Much better of an explanation than had spawned in his could-be paranoid mindset, in the meantime.

After a moment of slowly looking up and down Kidd, as if for a subliminal explanation, Sephiroth nodded sharply and turned his stature back towards the open plain, away from the campsite.

"Sure. Sleep well."
