Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

What was troubling her, though, was the memory. She frowned, turning around. "It's repeating, isn't it? Why?"
no subject
"I do not know. They are both mine." Vincent replied, as if it was unclear before. Why would they be repeating? Torture perhaps, trying to break him by showing his worst memories over and over again. Perhaps there was deeper meaning, or perhaps it was simply what it was.

"Why?" Why was she here, persisting in viewing something that obviously troubled her. Why did she 'care'? What was her purpose?
no subject
At that, she tilted her head, frowning. "Why? Well… because we're here, I suppose. There must be some meaning to it. Surely…"

Red eyes narrowed, head tilting as he stared at her. "Why did you come here?" How had she arrived? Unanswered questions ran through Vincent's mind, almost tumbling over themselves. Not that any of it showed on his face. As stoic as ever, save for narrow red eyes demanding an answer.

Her concern and reactions though either made her a superb actress, or what she seemed to be. An unwitting guest who was troubled by the memories being played before her. "I do not have control over your being here either." One more sin, however unwitting, in her being here not of her own will.

When she moved, holding her hand out, Vincent looked at it, then up at her with the question. She thought he might know? That was... Amusing. Stupid. Misguidedly innocent.
He simply raised an eyebrow over crimson eyes that stared at her. Midnight bangs falling over his gaze, held back by red cloth. If he had to guess, his first thought went towards torture. It wasn't as if he hadn't been tortured before, a play-thing for another's amusement. Was there another purpose to bearing his deepest regrets over and over where all and sundry could see them?

Vincent closed his eyes and tilted his head back and up. A deep breath in and out, sighing and trying to ignore, and to blot out the sounds. The pain, still fresh and as real as when it had first been experienced.
Another deep breath, and he looked at his unwitting 'guest' once more. Watching her pace, before nodding to himself. "You are...kind to be concerned though." Gentle in the tone, offering quiet thanks with his voice as he recognized her intentions were not at all malicious.

But Vincent could no more make sense of why this might be something he should relive, than why she should have to see it.
"Vincent Valentine." It was offered with no preamble, simply a statement in calm tones that sounded at home in the dark. Perhaps as a distraction from once more maddening cackled laughter from a memory's ghost that still felt all to real.

But he would remember her, if they met outside of his memory. Hopefully she would not bring up private wounds laid so bare. Otherwise it would not be a pleasure re-meeting her for Vincent.

He seemed surprised, honestly. That a stranger, someone who was uninvolved and unaware, would bother. These were his memories, his phantoms and regrets. His punishment and sin. Kindness from another was an unusual concept to him regarding them.

Then turning, a breath in and out, and pointing to the scenes being replayed. "Dr. Lucrecia Crescent." Identifying the female, giving some context perhaps. "I had been assigned as her bodyguard."

She watched as he moved, noting those details. Someone used to the dark, who had walked in it- But she held herself still, eyes on his, ears flicking briefly when she realised how much taller he was than she'd first thought. The gauntlet and cloak stood out, though- was that connected with these memories somehow?
She looked back at the scene, and nodded. "It seems the sort of task you'd be suited to," she said. Someone who could quietly watch another's back, not alerting any intruders to their presence until it was too late… "What kind of dangers did they anticipate?"

And Turks always completed a mission.
It had become passion too, with Lucrecia's smile, her warmth. He'd been hurt when she'd pulled away, after he found out she'd worked with his father. But he hadn't blamed her for his death. He didn't blame her still, even as he was sorrowful he couldn't go back and spare them this pain.
He never had fully figured out what had driven her to Hojo. What had driven her to participate, experimenting on her own child when she had seemed so warm before. As bodyguard it wasn't his place to question, but as a man... Well, the results of that conflict were currently playing out for any who watched.
"She was an assistant to the project. The other in the memories..." His expression remained stoic, but there was a gleam in crimson eyes and an undertone of pure hatred in the cool voice as he continued. "was Professor Hojo."

She went quiet for a moment, looking over the scene for any further details. One ear flicked back for a moment at Vincent's voice, wondering- what had sparked that? "The leader of the project, I take it."
