Summary: As the Heroes of Light were transported to the past, they now have the possibility explore Aqures Tosf and take part in the events that ultimately led to their arrival in Crystallis. [Much like his legendary blade, Sephiroth's intuition is razor sharp. It's a good sign really, as generally his never-missing-a-beat is reflective of his mood. You have to be a little bit more proactive than he has been recently, to connect dots like that so quickly.

Of course, the issue of crystal stasis is right on the surface of his mind currently since he's learned now of Genesis' fate.

Though, a few moments more of consideration and Sephiroth's expression softens; he's not completely buying into Ventus' explanation given how old the young boy doesn't seem...Zack had indeed been a rising star within SOLDIER under Angeal's tutelage but his success hadn't been immediate. But-

-knowing what he knows of different timelines, of even alternate universes, Sephiroth resolves to give Ventus the benefit of the doubt. But for a final question.]

Oh- From Gongaga, then?

[For a lot of people, that suggestion would be a very good way out -- to simply respond with "Yes! Gongaga!" even if they have no idea what it means because clearly it's a more acceptable alternative than telling a truth they wish to avoid.

"Un"fortunately, it's not really within Ven's ability to be dishonest; so even if Cloud had given him the name of Zack's hometown, lying still wouldn't have occurred to Ven as a viable option in this situation.

But he's never heard that name in his life, period -- plus he's still in the habit of thinking of places in terms of worlds, not individual cities and towns, and he's preeetty sure Cloud said his world is called Gaia -- so that odd word just gets a blank stare as he tries (and fails) to think up an acceptable response that will still get him out of this line of questioning.]

[Which left only one option and it's not one Sephiroth is too keen on making, but the existence of the same has been proven to him before so-]

Might have been a different Zack, then.

[Or Ventus had lied in the first place, though first impressions are not delivering that particular red flag either and if there is one thing Sephiroth could still rely on it was his sharp intuition.

The Major shrugs it off as not relevant, either way. Probably a good thing that he wasn't really all that close to the Zack that he knew.]

So, uh -- Cloud really looks up to you, huh? He said you're a hero where you come from.

[Moving swiftly on...

Sephiroth continues to peer at Ventus as if he might have something glowing on his nose. How did the conversation lead that way? Zack...Heroes...right...Cloud...

A few silent beats later and the silver haired man turns his head away and half-lets his body follow. There are a thousand needles on the underside of exactly what Ventus has just mentioned. Sephiroth has no idea how, knowing of Cloud and himself in the previous cycle, that Cloud could possibly still be idolizing him.]

Hm. Maybe.

[It just doesn't mean anything here.]

[...Oooorrr maybe that's not as safe a topic as Ven assumed. At the least, it's obvious Sephiroth doesn't want to talk about it, even though Ven's not sure how "Maybe" is even an applicable response.

...Adults. Who knows how they work?]
