Mooglehunt
Characters: James Kidd (Mary Read) and the Heroes she's approached about her Assassin's Guild
Where: Trano Golsaucia
When: Begins November 6th and hopefully ends by the 9th
Summary: The information that Mary has gathered has lead her to believe that the fugitive moogle Artemicion has been spotted in Trano Golsaucia. She's decided to take a small group to take him in herself.
OOC notes: This log is semi closed to people who Kidd has had CR with. However the first prompt will be open and if you want to try to come on board please contact me via plurk or message. Even so, she wants to keep party size limited so to not spook her quarry. OOC post here: link
Largely this will be a first proper mission for her guild's pc trainee's. Information on the Artimicion will be supplied by the mods as they're able to help us out. Beyond that this is sneakytime fun. I'll handle any npcs that we interact with. I believe the best way to do it would be for each player to pick which location and date they will be searching an area during the trip, covering the 7th and 8th. On the 9th a move will be made and hopefully the moogle will be captured.

On the 5th, letters go out to a few particular Heroes, and not through the normal Mognet channels. Instead they are dropped off quickly and quietly, though a keen eye may still spot the hooded moogle jumping from hiding place to perching point as she goes about her deliveries.
The letter reads:
Dear Friends,
Ever since the vanishing of Palitutu I have been reaching out to various contacts that I could make around the world, trying to find out what I can about her movements. While the Tarutaru has remained elusive, there seem to have been sightings of a particular moogle that I would like to investigate and I'd appreciate your assistance.
Please meet me at the Eagle Eye pub tomorrow so that we may discuss matters.
Yours,
James Kidd

Saori's distracted question broke her envisioning of the mission. She smiled as she caught the blush, "I was just thinking about the last woman I took under my wing. Taught her to fight, and sail a ship. She had the fool idea in her head she couldn't because she was a woman. Instead she became one of my fondest allies."
no subject
"I wish I could meet this protege of yours. She sounds like someone I could get along with." Fondest allies, huh? That could mean closest platonic friend to maybe lover but Saori couldn't remember a name to go along with this sense of fondness. Even though she had stumbled upon Mary's files when everyone's were exposed, that was several months ago. Besides, she'd rather hear it from a person directly if she could. Oh, what was she doing? They were on a stake out and not on their date yet! Saori turned her attention to the arena again.
"Hm...Trying to lure him out with a fake message from Palitutu could work but that's assuming they still keep in contact. Even if they are, they must have a password or something as second layer of protection. Though if he's here to make a profit from gambling, tempting him with a promise of major profits may work."

Saori was definitely a natural Assassin on this alone.
"Aye. It would be nice if Anne and Edward were here. Their company would do me good. But perhaps it's for the best it's just me."
She continued watching the space with Saori for a while longer but it soon became clear they were unlikely to spot the moogle within the arena for the evening. However it wasn't that late either yet.
"We can wrap it up here. We have an idea of the layout. The best we can do is play it by ear." She shook her head. She wasn't thrilled with this but she'd been on worse missions. "If I had more information perhaps we could plan something better."
(ooc: have them take their date and then have them spot Artemicion while they're out together?)
no subject
"Two protégés then? I'd love to hear more about them if there's time to spare."
Saori took off the hood and brushed her bangs to the side. "Yeah, better call it a day for now. Maybe we'll have better luck after we rest our eyes for a bit. You'd think it would be easy to spot a moogle with the worst dye job ever."
She slipped quietly down onto the next landing so she could stretch a bit. "So would this be a good time to take you out on that date I owe you? Everyone else will probably stay out some more so I don't think we'll have any interruptions."
no subject
Saori's question shook her from her distraction, looking surprised at first but then offering the other Hero a smile. "Certainly. That sounds like a rather nice way to spend the rest of the evening."
no subject
"Luckily, there's several options we can choose from. We'll have to go lighter on the drinking but that shouldn't be a problem. Craving anything in particular tonight?" She may have skimmed the latest food guides of Trano Glosaucia on the flight over for this purpose.
no subject
"You know...out at sea we'd have a lot of dried meat or fish. Even on the islands it was much the same. But I've heard you future folk have learned to do wonders with red meat."
no subject
"To the steakhouses it is then," she said as she cracked a smile at Mary. "Luckily, there's one nearby here that I've heard it's pretty good. A few roof tops over, actually. We'll be sure to get a seat before the dinner rush if we leave now."
no subject
"But it sounds like a good plan. A steak sounds like it would hit the spot nicely. Lead the way."
no subject
She was happy to lead the way. A little pre-dinner date exercise never hurt anyone. After climbing up and out of the stadium, she stopped on the first roof to get her bearings. So far, so good. It wouldn't be far after all. If Saori had to pick the one thing she loved about traveling over rooftops, it would be the freedom and the occasional adrenaline rush it provided. After traversing several small inns and taverns, Saori slipped back down onto the streets into an alleyway. She turned the corner leading the two to a main street. There were several restaurants that lined the road and with the sun hung low in the west, lines of hungry customers began to form at the doors.
"Ah here we go and just in time!" The steakhouse was relatively small compared to its flashier neighbors. It wasn't shabby to say the least but the size made it one of those establishments that anyone could miss in a blink. Saori opened the door and let Mary go in first.
The steakhouse was already half full by the time they had arrived. They were quickly ushered to a table, and at Saori's request, by a window facing the street. If she was lucky to get the date like she wanted, then maybe there was a chance they might spot their mission objective.
"And before you ask, don't worry, I can foot the bill without a problem. See anything that catches your fancy yet?" Saori glanced up from her menu at Mary.

She moved easily with Saori across the rooftops, smiling as she watched the other woman enjoying herself. The cities in Crystallis were denser than most of those in the Caribbean so she too was able to enjoy the view of the city and the glimpses of life below unaware of their passing. To her, she loved the fluid motion of being able to move like this. There was a certain amount of oneness that came with the freedom of running so high up.
Once in the restaurant, Mary felt slightly out of place. It wasn't that this place was posh or anything like it, but it was still kept up a bit better than most of the taverns she frequented. She tugged on her coat, hoping she didn't stand out too much. Following Saori to the table she turned her attention to the menu.
The problem was that there were a good many things had caught her eye. A good number of the offerings sounded lovely or would let her try something new and it was difficult to pin things down to a single choice. In the end her eyes settled on one of the house specialties, which would give her a bit of the new and the familiar both.
"I think so but...what are these mozzarella sticks?" The potato skins looked lovely as well.
no subject
Saori's lips cracked a smile. "Possibly one of the best appetizers the Western world has blessed us and a bit of guilty pleasure of mine. It's strips of mozzarella cheese that are breaded and then deep-fried. There's marinara sauce you can dip it in as well. Let's get one to share."
no subject
"I guess I'll have to try it then. Every time I hear about how things change in the world's future I find a new reason to want to go back...though perhaps not to precisely when I left."
no subject
Speaking of other deep fried guilty pleasures, those onion rings on the menu looked rather tempting to her. They would be really good with her choice of a rib eye steak for the entree. Once a server came up to them, Saori looked over to Mary. "I'm ready. What about you?"
no subject
She trusted Saori to have her back.
The ordering went without incident and the waiter moved on to Saori while the pirate continued to read over the menu out of curiosity.
