[Request] Mythril Mines
Characters: Fai D. Flourite & Asbel Lhant
Where: Mythril Mines, Lost Continent
When: May ???
Summary: Jessie sends these guys on a quest to bring back mythril and help clear monsters from the caves.
Warning: N/A
"So these are the Mythril Mines," Asbel mused, standing just inside the entrance to the cave. It was a good thing he'd splurged for some cold weather gear, otherwise he was fairly certain he would have frozen in place ages ago. As it was, it was still pretty uncomfortable, and he found himself shifting from one foot to the other, occasionally testing his fingers in their gloves to make sure they could still grip properly when the time came to fight.
From its mouth, the cave seemed to be deep, dimly lit, and punctuated by the broken and distorted echoes of monsters and who-knew-what-all-else lurking inside. There was no real way to know how strong they'd be either. At least that was nothing new; actually, it was a little exciting.
Asbel looked to Fai, a small smile creeping onto his face. "Since the monsters have been keeping people from excavating the mines, I'm guessing the mythril we're looking for is going to take a good while to get at, huh? You ready to go?"

He took a few steps in further along, Big Yellow trailing along behind him, very closely not liking having to even go into this place. It didn't take Fai long to stop and turn his head slightly. "Yellow-chan, you don't need to come in if you don't want to." He said giving her a small pat, calming her down a little bit.
When Asbel spoke, he glanced over. "I come to the assumption it will be somewhere in the centre or the far back of the mine. But I guess it would meant it would be a while before we get there be there monsters or not since we don't really know our way." He couldn't help but give a small chuckle even though it was no laughing matter.
"But I'm sure we'll figure that out easily enough, but we would need to start, so shall we?"

Asbel turned his attention towards Fai's charge, the chocobo known as Big Yellow. He guessed the creature wasn't really used to poking her beak into places like this, although she could probably deal with the temperature if those feathers were half as cozy as they looked. He inclined his head towards her. "Are you sure Big Yellow's going to be okay if we leave her outside? It may be safer than in the cave, but it still seems a little dangerous."
"And there's that." He agreed, proceeding away from the entrance. It actually seemed a little warmer inside the cave; at least the wind couldn't drive the snow into him here. "Maybe if we run into some of the miners, we can ask for directions. They probably know the ins and outs of this place better than anyone. They might even be able to tell us what to look out for."
no subject
"I don't think there are actually any miners here. Considering why we are here, I assume it's just us." He could be wrong in his mind, but he knew he couldn't be certain as of yet.
no subject
"I don't think standing around and becoming an ice pop would be too great for us or the people who work here, anyway." Maybe for the monsters, though. With that, Asbel chose to pick up his feet and walk a little faster, keeping an eye out for anything that moved.
"That's true..." he admitted. "But we should probably check as we go anyway, just to be sure no one's stuck down here." And in case any of the miners were trying to reverse the situation on their own. He wasn't sure if that was the prevalent in Crystallis, but sometimes the townspeople he watched over could be pretty obstinate.
"I wonder what kind of monsters live down here. Bats, golems?" A sound caught his attention up ahead, and Asbel decided that maybe he should focus more on being ready for a fight and less on small talk. "Sounds like something...heavy."
no subject
"That does sound heavy. So not a bat, golem does seem likely since they are probably quite large when you think about it. But then you have to remember that there are other monsters from the outside that could have gotten in to, so one should remember what ones exist where we currently are."
