Men (and a Ninja Princess) on a mission
Characters: Jade, Sparks, Yuffie
Where: Battlefield south of Esdham
When: May 24th
Summary: Jade is out on a quest for Jessie to capture an imperial Magitek Knight. He's joined by two Heroes who want to stick it to the Empire -- one who was invited, one who invited herself.
Warning: Battle times. More to be added as needed.
Jade peered over the cliff at the imperial campside down below. It was a routine mission, for the most part -- weed out imperial troops patrolling the border -- though Jessie's request added an extra challenge. They were to capture a Magitek Knight or an Illusionist alive for study.
And, as luck would have it, this patrol had a Magitek Knight accompanying it. Of course it had to be the harder of the two options.
Jade, now in the position of a Captain, signaled the Esdham privates into positions. They had enough men to deal with the small fry; that left him and his fellow Hero to take on the Knight.
"Well, this looks like fun. Ready for a little bout of fisticuffs, Sparks?"

"Hiya!" She waved because that makes everything better.
She couldn't help that she wanted to knock some Imperial heads together though she wished that Sparks hadn't been here. He already hated her as it was.
She rested her palms on her hips looking between the pair who thought they were being sneaky.

"What're you doin' here. We're doin' just fine. Just cuz yer a ninja doesn't mean yer the only one who knows how to be sneaky, y'know.

Although... Jade's gaze returned to the Magitek Knight in the distance, who would no doubt notice and take shots at any approaching enemies from a distance. Unless said enemies were invisible.
"Actually, this could work to our advantage. Do you think you could arrange a little distraction for us, young lady?"
no subject
"Of course." Yuffie still ignored Sparks because she didn't feel like answering his question. Also she would have to then argue that she was more sneaky than both of them and then nothing would get done.
She really wanted to fight the Empire.
Another devious smile. "Leave it to me." And she was gone. Of course she didn't have anything in mind yet but she moved silently thanks to the Vampire job. This wouldn't be to hard.

Since she was supposed to be the distraction, Sparks waited just a few more moments before taking his chance to slowly start making his way towards the Knight, trying to stay as low and quiet as he could. His Jobs didn't afford him the luxury of a skill like Yuffie's, and Sparks has always been the kind of person to ride into battle guns blazing. Being this sneaky was going to require a lot of concentration for the marshal.

After giving the sergeant nearby hushed instructions, he quietly followed Sparks at a small distance. Being the mage, supporting the others would be his job. No need for him to be rushing in.

She walked around him and to the trees behind him. She's hunted enough to know what sorts of sounds a animal would make and did that to pull his attention. It wasn't so hard. A soft rustle of a small animal bounding through the forest and he turned his head and then the armor so that he was facing away from Sparks and Jade.
Yuffie kept herself invisible moving only enough to keep his attention. This was a child's game to her. Though she wondered what the others first moves would be. As if expecting something dramatic from Sparks she slowly walks within range of the man in the machine.

As much as he'd like to get the first hit in, Sparks knows all too well how powerful those Magitek Armor can be. Taking down some of its defenses would hopefully let Jade and Yuffie get some effective hits on it.

Jade focused his attention on casting. The moment the Mental Break landed, a Thundaga spell struck down on the Magitek Armor, blasting through the mechanical limbs and inducing an alarmed yell from the Knight. The racket alerted the other imperial guards -- but it also signaled the Esdham troops to begin assault.

She jumped away hearing the sounds of the others being put on alert. "I'll slow them down." She shouted at Sparks and Jade before turning invisible again to intercept the soldiers that were going to prepare to head towards the old pair.
It wasn't reckless. It's not like they could see her.

After that, Sparks tried to make a break for it around to the side of the armor. He learned the lesson the hard way of being in the front of a Magitek Armor's firing range.

The injured shoulder was giving the Magitek Knight some trouble, but the Armor was turning around. With Sparks running to one side, the machine guns aimed for what the Knight likely thought was an easier target -- at Jade, who was still standing quite still.
It never seemed to occur to them that a Hero in a Black Mage robe could also be a Master Dragoon, Jade thought as he leaped high into the air, easily avoiding the gunfire.
