Christmas Party & Cheer

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[With everything set Zelda finds a place to watch the party with a smile. Now that the party is going she doesn't have any responsibilities and she is free to relax. Her dress for today is a bright red velvet with a dark black belt around her waist. The hem of her skirt brushes against her thighs while white stockings cover her legs. She has her usual brown boots on and a warm smile spread over her lips. Her hat is a traditional Santa themed hat with her long golden hair falling behind her back in a loose braid.

She has a little piece of mistletoe between her fingers like she's thinking of putting it up somewhere to catch people unawares. She brings the leaf to her lips watching those walking in with shining blue eyes.

Towards the middle of the evening she can be found swaying along to the music. She doesn't need a partner to dance and she's having fun. There is a glass in her hand which is bubbling wildly as she takes a small sip.

Whenever she sees anyone she knows she smiles brightly and comes over to talk.]

Are you having a good time?

[Rukia is, by now, pretty much aware of why mistletoe is considered A Thing. She's not sure anyone at the party will actually take advantage of it, but all in all, she considers the tradition harmless enough. So when she notices that Zelda is considering hanging up another sprig, Rukia grins.]

We could put it on the dance floor.

[Just a suggestion, of course, one she makes with a grin as she folds her arms. It seems like a good season for people to get a little more chummy with one another, and there's nothing wrong with a surprise kiss to the cheek to express a little affection, right? Therefore, she supports this mistletoe idea.]

Is the young man from your world showing up tonight?

[Zelda twirls the piece of holly in front of her lips as they spread into a wide smile.]

I hope the dancers are more focused on their partners than the ceiling above them but it might not be a bad idea.

[She selfishly wants to keep the little plant for herself should her hero come walking into the hall. She really has no idea who all might be coming. When Rukia mentions Link her expression softens and saddens slightly.]

I don't know. He's been busy.

[At least she hasn't seen him very much.]

[That mistletoe is making her nervous. Zelda knows it's poisonous, right? Rukia is sure she must, but the longer it remains near Zelda's mouth, she finds it harder to relax. At the answer to her question, Rukia seems surprised, but apologetic.]

...I see. Honestly, I don't know what he's thinking.

[She folds her arms with a grumpy huff. It's important to kill monsters to be sure, but if it makes a loved one feel neglected, it's time to take a break.]

Well. I suppose you'll just have to find someone else to nudge under the mistletoe.

[She smiles mischievously. What a troll.]

[Zelda removes the mistletoe from her lips with a surprised gasp at Rukia's suggestion. She knows that it's poisonous and she has no intention of eating it but she has a habit of bringing her fingers to her lips. In this case the mistletoe happened to be there as well.

There is a noticeable blush spreading across Zelda's cheeks as her fingers tug at her dress.]

I'm sure that there isn't anyone who wants that.

[She sounds a little sad about it, not that she wants to go around kissing people but because she wants to be with those she cares about and she knows they might not all be here tonight.]

[Graham has decided to attend the party, and seems to be enjoying himself. Zelda may have noticed that he'd been faithfully wearing the scarf she sent along to him as a gift since he got it. He's not accustomed to getting gifts, so he greatly appreciated it. Even if he didn't send along a thank you note, despite all of Kuprono's insisting.]

I am! I never thought I'd be moved by all this holiday cheer, but it's so pervasive that maybe there was just no way to avoid it. And what else do we have to look forward to in these bleak, cold winter months? I've been captured and held hostage by all the celebrating. My heart has been warmed and melted!

[Zelda takes note in the scarf and her smile widens slightly. Her lips curling up at the edges as she looks at him.]

I'm happy to hear that Graham.

[There is a slight pause as Zelda steps up to him, her hand gesturing out towards the center of the floor.]

Would you like to dance?

[Graham looks momentarily surprised. He's never done much actual dancing in his life. Other than the kind he does in place some times when he's talking.

He thinks it over before nodding with conviction.]

I can try! I must admit to be completely ignorant of dance styles in Aqures Ixen, though. Or most in general. I don't even think I know how to do the Charleston properly? [What juvenile delinquent does? He shrugs. He says all this while leading her to the dance floor, though.]

[Zelda laughs and then waits for the next song to start. This one is a slower Christmas song and so with a nod of her head she takes his hand while positioning his free hand around her waist. Once everything is in place she lightly rests her hand on his shoulder.]

You start with your left foot forward. Then we move right, then back and the left and you alternate which foot moves.

[It's a very quick explanation. Either way Zelda will follow his lead and move accordingly.]

[Minako had been helping out with the whole putting mistletoe up in the most places, making sure that people might get the kisses that they want when she could come across the other.]

hey! How's Operation Mistletoe going here? Put them all up?

[Zelda laughs and holds up the one piece still left in her hand.]

All but one. I couldn't decide where it goes.

[It feels as if this one might be the most important. As if this one decides the fate of things.]

[Minako used that time to think things over really. The last one is always the most important in her mind. She even she was looking around and judging every place where she hadn't put some and she noticed there was a lot.]

Well considering what spaces are left... It limits where to put it.

[Zelda thinks about it for a long moment before a devious smile pulls at her lips. She looks over at Minako and then gestures towards the food table.]

What about right in front of the Buffet?

[She won't put it over the food in case it falls but just in front where people are looking to pick up something to eat? That can be a good place.]

[The moogle smiles as Zelda approaches her. While Mary is off mingling with the other Heroes, Bonnie has been doing her best to thank the Heroes for all their hard work herself.]

Yes, kupo. Thank you for all your hard work, kupo.

[She reaches into her satchel and fishes around before pulling out a candy cane, one with pink and yellow stripes on it. She was trying to save this one for Zelda particularly.]

[Zelda takes the candy cane with a warm smile. It's very cute and she loves the colors.]

Thank you Bonnie. It really isn't any trouble. Are you and Mary having a good time?

Yes we are, kupo. She nearly stayed home but I insisted she come out here, kupo. She's worried about Ramza and what he's planning to do. She doesn't want him to get hurt.

[Knighthood ceremonies had long required specific attire, usually the sort of formal wear that made for an uncomfortable manner of hours stuck in something tight to the neck or to the waist. Much like those ceremonies, Link didn't quite understand the need for such dress, especially at a party far away from Skyloft. Still, it was something that would make Zelda happy, so it took everything in him to make sure such complaints didn't leave his thoughts.

Wringing a finger around his cuff to let some of the steam out of his outfit, Link turned to face his girlfriend now that she changed into her own formal wear. His eyes go wide a moment before he realizes his actions, clearing his throat as he replies in earnest to her question.]

Ah- So far, yeah. You umm.. You look amazing, by the way. Sorry if it took me so long to get into this. I'm still not used to the idea of wearing things like this.

[Says the knight from a lineage of mask-wearing, tunic swapping heroes.]

[Zelda smiles brightly at Link. She's just happy that he came, more so considering the journey to Christmas Town was a little long. She steps closer to him twirling the piece of mistletoe between her fingers.]

You look amazing too.

[She shakes her head.]

It's really alright, thank you for coming Link. I'm happy that you are here.

[He smiles bashfully, scratching the side of his nose with a single finger during the pause in their conversation. His eyes do their best to not linger on her, despite the length of time he'd love to dedicate to drinking in her beauty.

His vision catches her fingers, the only thing moving during the awkward silence of them standing so close to one another.]

What's that? In your hands, I mean.

[Nanami smiled on seeing Zelda. Zelda certainly seems to like hosting these parties, and not to show off. Again Nanami's cynicism warred with the childish belief that some adults were as nice as they seemed.]

[she says it without any heat, one ear twitching in amusement- Zelda's probably fine with it, after all.

She nods, attention turning to the rest of the party for a moment.]

All the more for seeing everyone else having a good time. [she's relaxed a little, but not fully- there's still some work to be done, and worry ever-present in the back of her mind.] Everyone's hard work has paid off, hasn't it?

[Zelda smiles brightly at her friend while continuing to twirl the piece of mistletoe between her fingers.]

[the movement certainly catches her attention, and she glances up at Zelda's face with one ear flicking back in question- is that for all of them, then? Can she see if shoes will work with Zelda, as well?]

I am. It's good to take a break from the workshop- so I've been reminded, at least. I imagine your month's been a sight more interesting than mine.
