Christmas Party & Cheer
WHO: OPEN
WHEN: FORWARD DATED: December 22nd
WHERE: Christmas Town
WHAT: Celebrating the snow, the holidays, good cheery, warm fires and friends.
WARNING: Mistletoe?
With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.
There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.
Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.
Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.
[ooc: feel free to make open posts and tag around! It's a party!]

If he wanted to wallflower all night and watch everyone else, at least then someone could respond if something went wrong. Sephiroth felt a little insulted, as a result, that for some reason Sparks didn't see that.
"Trust me. I'm not looking for a fight. That's not to say I'd not break one up if it erupted."
As for whether they were all really alive or not, and how that held any ground to be celebrating was so far beyond Sephiroth that he couldn't rightly put it into words.

He shrugs. If he went on like this, Sparks would start to sound hypocritical, and he knows it. It's not like he ever switches off, but even he can enjoy a party from time to time.
"'Sides, anyone startin' a fight here is gonna get an extra week in a cell for interrupting Christmas. I guarantee that."

In a moment of hindsight, neither would him lowering his hair-trigger sense of security for just a few moments...not even a night?
"Hmph." A non-committal noise in response to Sparks more-obvious-than-not hypocrisy. Where Sephiroth were the workaholic-Colonel now who probably didn't even sleep that deeply, he knew well enough that Sparks probably didn't get a solid 8 hours a night, either.
"I wouldn't make that offer too loudly. I can imagine a few who would put your words to the test just to see if you'd do it."

"Did ya even get to see that Santa Village thing everyone was workin' on? I finally stopped by the other day. It's, y'know. Christmasy." Sparks shrugs a little. He didn't really think it was necessary to go as far as swapping to a Santa Claus Job for, and especially seeing some of the side effects it gave others who picked it up, he's really glad he passed.
"I did think about joining those totally weird Santa fights... Guess I still gotta few days if I feel like jumpin' in."

"We came in a couple of days ago, I've been too busy to have looked in before but it's certainly festive enough."
He's not too sure why Sparks would bring up the fights that happen, per local tradition, in Esdham as it's certainly not ever been Sephiroth's idea of fun. He tightens his grip around the small tumbler he's holding while thoughts race to figure out what might have been Sparks reason for coming over and trying to kindle some Christmas spirit in him.
"It's worthwhile to go and see, if only the once."
Idle conversation, if only to try and buy himself some more thinking time.

Another small shrug. He figured he needed to help somehow, even if he has no idea how to ice skate, really.
"Oh, and I brought ice cream for everyone. Gelato, really. Gingerbread flavor. Y'know. Festive. 'S in the cooler in the kitchen. Pints got everyone's names on 'em, so look for yers." See, Sparks can get into the spirit. Just in his own way.

Talk about pulling the festive mood down to the floor and crushing it underfoot. Trust Sephiroth to take something cheery and immediately make it sound less such, by applying his signature splash of harsh reality every time. Honesty is a blunt creature.
Sephiroth gives Sparks an almost disbelieving look over when he mentions that he's brought ice cream for everyone. It seemed way off what he knew of the Marshal up to this point and only kept a layer of underlying tension in their conversation; wondering what exactly was Sparks' point. Maybe there wasn't one, and that bothered him even more.
"I'll try to remember for when we're headed back to the lodge."

He grimaces imaging how rough those Santa fights might get, but it does seem to damper his mood much. "Dang. Who knew a buncha guys dressed like Santa would get so into it. So much for holiday spirit, huh? Note to self: no attached beards if I give it a try."
no subject
With a half-grin Sephiroth tilts his head and raises his glass a little to Sparks. At least attempting to encourage some of the involuntary tension he's feeling to go away. "'Tis the spirit of the season in Esdham, at least."
He's never been convinced of the function of a Coliseum like that in keeping the peace in the Republic, but at the very least it provides a suitable place for citizens to go and blow off steam. As a result, crime within the citizenry was lower; or perhaps that was down to the military stronghold overseeing them. Sephiroth supposed it was a combination of both.
