Christmas Party & Cheer

WHAT: Celebrating the snow, the holidays, good cheery, warm fires and friends.

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

"You certainly look the part."

Zelda was smiling brightly. She was happy that a Santa Claws had decided to join in the festivities. She held a drink in her hand which she then held out to Meteor. "I thought you might like something to drink while you worked." Hopefully he'd be able to enjoy the party as well.

"I appreciate it, thank you Zelda," said Meteor as he took the drink from her.

Taking a sip, he made sure not to spill any on his beard. "It's really quite the jolly time isn't it? Everyone together, having fun..."

Zelda nodded with a wide smile. "Yeah, I'm glad everyone made it out tonight." She was a little worried with everything that's happened that no one would want to celebrate the holiday's. She was glad to see that she was wrong though there are a few dark clouds hovering over the party.

"Are you going to hand out presents the whole time? You should enjoy yourself too."

"Ah... I was thinking of just the first part of it," admitted Meteor. "This is one of my favorite holidays after all, and I intend to enjoy it."

She was right after all, there was a lot that would deter someone from celebrating, and yet he was feeling fairly merry in all.

Zelda's smile widened. "I'm happy to hear it."

She looked out of the party for a moment before shaking her head slightly. "If you'd like a dance later I'd be happy too." She had already had one dance with Garham and she's finding that she enjoys the activity.

"A dance sounds lovely," he replied, handing out a gift to another party goer. "I'll save a spot on my dance card for you. However, I must warn you I'm not that good."

Zelda laughed. "It's okay. I am." She didn't mind teaching him if he wanted.

"Let me know when you are free."

She'll leave him to handing out gifts for now and wait for him to be free.

It wasn't long until he was done, and it was only a half an hour. With Cloud coming in, he was free to take some time off.

Nodding at Zelda, he offered his hand to her. "All right, let us dance."

Zelda took his hand with a warm smile. She was happy to see that Meteor was having fun and excited for the chance to dance. Her steps are light as they move out towards the dance floor. The song that begins is slow which works well since Meteor didn't seem to know a lot about dancing.

The young goddess stepped up resting one hand on Meteor's shoulder. "Your hand goes around my waist and we start on the your right foot."

She didn't know if he needed the instruction but she'd offer it all the same.

"That much I remember," he said, wrapping his hand around her waist and taking her hand with the other. He was trying to remember some of the formal dances and decided.

"I think I remember one of the dances of my people. Shall we lead?"

"It's your lead."

Zelda laughed softly as they take their first step to the music. It's a slower song, the musical instrumentals rising over the air and filling the hall with sweet music. Zelda really loves dancing and it isn't an activity she does often. Even with the weight on her shoulders and heart she feels like she can make it through tonight with a smile.

He smiled at her words, and lead her in the dance. It was a nice, solid waltz that he continued to work with. It was no way a ballroom dance, but something more folk-lore. He found himself smiling, as he moved to twirl Zelda.

"Wonderful night tonight."

Zelda laughed as they moved across the floor. It was easy to forget the horrors and worries they were sure to face as they danced.

"It is."

Bright aquamarine eyes shine up at him.

"I'm honestly just happy that everyone is enjoying themselves."

"Indeed. With the pressures of the world, it turns into a nice, gentle thing, being able to dance like this an enjoy ourselves."

He smiled down at Zelda, taking in her sparkling expression. So light, and unburdened from before.

"I'm glad we can spend this time together."

"Me too."

She knew that hey might not have time in the future like this. As the move the song picked up and then came to a close. Zelda stopped moving looking up at Meteor with a smile.

"Would you like to dance to another song or stop?"

"Well I..." He paused suddenly, listening to the music. A bright, cheerful expression appeared on his face as the music was distinctly familiar.

"Oh. One more dance would do. Follow my lead. This is something that is from my own homeworld."

Stepping away to get some room, the lyrics of the song were... unique to say the least. And the dance he began to perform was the strangest thing in the world.

It wasn't so hard to get the hang of but Zelda couldn't stop laughing as they performed the dance. She could barely get through all the movements before she gripped her stomach from laughing to hard.

"This is from your home then?"

She smiled up at Meteor trying to keep up with the tempo while breathless laughter rose from her chest.

"It is! Legend has it, that whoever dances this manderville dance, summons the most powerful Primal in the world: Godbert Hildibrand." He grinned.

"In truth, it's a family dance I learned a while ago from a man named Hildibrand."

Zelda laughed. "He sounds like an impressive man." At least to create a dance like that.

As the song ended Zelda stood back to catch her breath.

"I think I might go grab something to drink."

"I'll come with you. The manderville dance is exhausting."

He was breathing a little heavily ~~with his TP drained~~and he smiled. "I'm a little hungry as well."

"I've made sure there are plenty of snacks as well as treats." There were a lot of cookies at the buffet but Zelda has set out sandwiches and small pieces of chicken that can be eaten as finger food.

When they set up towards the table Zelda reached for a glass of water before turning towards Meteor.

"What would you like to try?"

"I've always been partial to cookies actually," said Meteor with a rueful grin. "But the chicken looks good. We don't have that in my homeland."

Zelda leaned forward and picked up a red and tan cookie from the tray. She held it up for Meteor to take with a wide bright smile.

"I made these. You should try it and tell me what you think."

The red dyed section is a peppermint cookie while the white is a sugarcookie. Which have been folded together to look something like a candy cane.

Taking the cookie, he took a bite. Chewing thoughtfully, he swallowed and said, "This is good! Really good. The two flavors mixing together, ah it's delicious. And it's chewy too."

Zelda's smile brightened until it was shining.

"I'm glad you like it."

She glanced over her shoulder noticing that some of the decorations had fallen off one of the walls. With a soft exhale of breath she turned back towards Meteor.

"I have to go fix something. Make sure you have a lot of fun alright?" The decorations took a long time to put up and Zelda didn't want them to start falling down now.
