Christmas Party & Cheer

WHO: OPEN
WHEN: FORWARD DATED: December 22nd
WHERE: Christmas Town
WHAT: Celebrating the snow, the holidays, good cheery, warm fires and friends.
WARNING: Mistletoe?

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[ooc: feel free to make open posts and tag around! It's a party!]

That's- good to hear. Then- did you enjoy it, too? Is there anything like it in Remnant?

Not exactly, though we do have occasions for giving gifts. But yes, it was quite enjoyable.

Good! [she beams, hands clasped together for a moment.]

Oh? What kind of other occasions, can I ask?

Each kingdom has their own traditions, but of course we have things like birthdays and seasonal celebrations.

[Being slightly cagey since canon hasn't really addressed this directly.]

[maybe eventually-! though perhaps that's a little out of scope, huh]

Of course, of course! The turning of the year is of quite some importance, don't you agree? I wonder if we could learn all of each other's celebrations someday. [with the number of people… maybe, maybe not!]

[There's the Vytal Festival, but that's really more of a historical / political themed celebration than an occasion for gift-giving.]

It would be difficult to celebrate all of them, but you're right - it might be fun to learn.

[a very different feeling, it's true.]

Mm- it already does feel almost as though we go from one celebration to another. […inbetweeen everything being terrible, admittedly. She beams, though, pleased by Pyrrha's agreement.] I'd be happy to share what ever you'd like to learn, then!

I'd be happy to hear about your world's celebrations, if you'd like to share.

Of course! Shall I start with the Starlight Celebration, then? The traditions here are somewhat similar, but not entirely.

[Pyrrha nods, turning toward K'pandolu a little more so she can give this her full attention.]

Start wherever you like.

The Starlight Celebration it is, then.

[she settles herself, tail flicking once from base to tip before she begins.]

In Eorzea, the tradition comes to us from the northern city-state of Ishgard, which has seen some of the deepest scars in its war against dragonkind. The battles left many children orphaned and alone, and while official word was that the knights were not to take any action, there were those who could not stand such a state of affairs. And so, they snuck the children into the barracks under the cover of their red coats. Thankfully, the battles that had seen so much devastation eventually came to an end, and the matter was largely forgotten- until such time as those children grew up and gathered together to pay tribute to the knights who had aided them. In red coats of their own, they passed out gifts to the children of the realm, and so it continues to this day.

Red coats... like the Santa Claus of this world's legends, then. And it seems the gift giving aspect is similar as well. That's a very heartwarming story.

So it seems! Which is interesting, don't you think?

[and a more pleasant similarity to think about than some of the others she could name.]

It is. It's very interesting that two different worlds developed such a similar tradition. And from the sounds of things, lots of the Heroes of Light are also familiar with something roughly the same. It's nice to think that the spirit of generosity and helping others is something that's so universal.

I couldn't agree more! It says to me that there will always be a light in the darkness.
pole_position: (huh?)

[personal profile] pole_position 2016-02-03 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a comforting thought. That's probably why every world developed a tradition like that.
