Intro Log || This Keeps Happening

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of January. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Snow. Also some leftover decorations from Christmas.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With Christmas being barely over, there are still Christmas Decoration in the streets, and while the reconstruction are nearly over, there are still traces of the attack the Empire led against the city six months ago. A few buildings are being worked on.

And besides the decorations and reconstructions, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and a Blitzball Match is set to start at 20:00 in the stadium! Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them discussing about the election for the future director of Mognet. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —
A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have for order to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened a couple months ago.

Close Encounters of the Third(?) Kind
— 15:00 —
Characters venturing by between the city's outskirts and the Chocobo Farm at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a Chocobo before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Previous sightings of such a thing have happened. It might be a good idea to investigate this sometimes...

"Aliens never look terrestrial though. I wonder if we can find out where it went...?" said Erika.

"Huh, that's different then. I guess there's something to be said about similar worlds."

Zack blinked. "A year and a half? That's a long time."

Duster didn't notice Cloud's emotion towards the Chocobos: how could anyone not love them? However, the missing cows were enough proof for his theory.

"They're going to turn them into chimeras."

The couldn't be aliens in that case, just invaders from another time.

"I guess so. It's got us. Highest concentration of one hour. Wasn't easy, but we got rid of 'em."

Johnny thought it over for a few moments. "If the Empire's hitting anything up next, my guess is it'll be Mysidia. There was an entire continent that until recently was cut off from the outside world. They dropped their defenses and let us in. Not sure how welcoming to the Empire they'll be, but I don't think they're not the kind to wait for an invite anyway."

"If they're going to experiment on it, they'll need more than one," Duster responded firmly. "The best we can to is to wait until they come back and stop them there."

Yeah, but it's not so bad." Cloud finally flashed him a smile, "People I like from home are here. And I'm a Hero here...well...moreso than I was back home."

"We can try searching but I don't know if we'll find anything." He shifted forward in his seat and offered her his hand. "Come on, there's enough room. Just hold on tight."

"Chimeras? I thought those were mostly lions and rams and dragons." At least that was a monstrous sort of Chimera. Cloud furrowed his brow trying to imagine one with a Chocobo head in place of the ram. The image of a fire breathing demonic Chocobo head was nearly too much for him. He turned away to hide his face. Now wasn't a time for jokes.

Well, it's been nice meeting you, Erika.

Duster's shoulders slump. One and a half years, and still no sign of going back home? Things were looking worse by the minute.

"I don't have anything to take to my room right now. I'll be fine." And to be honest, having someone else in the house was a breath of fresh air, even if they weren't technically a Hero of Light. Going back to staying along all day in a nearly empty house...it made him feel uneasy.

He stands by the bottom of the stairwell as if he's waiting for something. Conversations with new people were never his strong suit: he had Kumatora and the other members of the DCMC to do that for him. Should he...go to his room?

Duster scratches his cheek and glances upward. "...Can I go up now?"

"Some of them are lions. I never saw a dragon, unless dragonflies count." As dragons were mythological creatures that lived underneath the islands, it would be impossible for the Pigmasks to capture one.

Duster searched his memory for a few examples he could give Cloud, specifically for one that involved a Chocobo-like animal. "Orangutans with walruses, horses and tarantulas..." He grimaced. "Ostrelephants."

"That must be nice," said Zack genuinely. "The people have been calling the Beat Riders heroes back home too. So I can understand the feeling."

"Another continent... anything special about it, besides being isolationist?" asked Zack, making a few mental notes about it.

This and the Empire. Sounded like a game, but Zack knew games could get serious real fast.

Yeah same here! I'll look you up again! Gotta know all of Tsubomi's friends, right?

"Oh thanks." Grabbing his hand, she clumsily got up, while holding Coffret. Her moogle landed on her other shoulder as she put Coffret on her shoulder as well, his tiny paws gripping her shirt.

"Okay lets do this!"

Cloud didn't remember him? Sure, they hadn't talked much, but it still caught him by surprise. Understanding started to dawn on him as he listened to his explanation.

"I'm not sure I fully understand. But that explains why you look younger. I'm Tidus, by the way. We fought on the same side." He was still glad to see him. He shrugged absently. "Apparently. So are you." It was still weird to think about in too much depth.

[He brightens when Pyrrha asks him for pointers. He's still not sure about playing, but he'll consider it.]

First I'm going to assume you already can swim, or else you wouldn't be on a team for a sport that is all swimming. Otherwise, how long can you hold your breath? You'll want to work on that first, not only to where you can hold it for a long period of time, but to where you've built your endurance to where it's comfortable and you can multitask--

Uhh, maybe you should know this about Blitzball here-- [The moogle tries to interject, but Tidus ignores him. He's in game mode.]

And you're going to want to swim. A lot. You should get up early if you don't already so you have time to practice. How do your other team members practice? I can look at it if they have something set, if not I can give you some drills to do and make sure to rest--

I really think you should know this! [Mogtide exclaims again.]

--So you avoid an injury that might mess you up from playing later.

"Hello. Are you one of the new arrivals?" He knew most of the older Heroes in passing at least. He liked to at least recognize his allies and have an idea of their capabilities. This one seemed to possess plenty of stamina, if he could dance so energetically song after song.

"Yeah I am. I'm Zack, and I just woke up a while ago." Said Zack with a grin. He picked up a water bottle he had on him and sipped at it before adding, "You've been here a while I take it?"

Yuna didn’t remember fighting him, at least not in the context that he was talking about. She shook her head allowing herself a small smile. This was bound to get complicated but she didn’t care. It was still nice to see Tidus after all this time. It hurt but she had never left pain bother her before. Only Tidus always could tell when she was forcing herself to smile.

“That wasn’t it. The other world I went to was a city. You weren’t there.” She spoke slowly as if each word took great effort. “I don’t remember us ever fighting. I could never fight you Tidus.” She wanted to tell him but she didn’t know if it was best.

“Can I tell you a secret? Something you can’t tell anyone else?” Yuna knew that if he promised he would keep it. After all he had kept it from her up until she had defeated Sin.

Yuna smiled. “That’s alright.” She can understand being shy.

“The moogles work for Mognet. They are one of the citizens of this world. The government here assigns them as guides should we have basic questions about this world while also delivering mail for us. It’s really the only way we have to communicate outside of meeting face to face.”

Yuna was used to a lack of communication though Shinra had begun to fix that with his spheres just before she had been taken from Spira. “I can answer as much as possible. I’ve been here for over a year now.”

Yuna took a step next to him, her eyes watched him closely and with fluid easy she mimicked him. Her arms moved and she bent her knees as she had seen him do during his performance. She even did the next move she remembered before stopping and looking up at Zack.

There was a light blush on her cheeks as she awkwardly scratched the back of her head. “I’m a quick learner.” Her smile then returned full force. “What’s next?”

Umiko shrugged. “Base of operations, whatever you want to call it.” She just knew that she dropped stuff off there fairly frequently and there was at least one person working there as far as research goes. Her head tilted slightly to the side while her eyes looked over towards Aya. She wasn’t really looking for apologies or anything like that.

“I don’t know but then there is also Palitutu’s lab and there are things going on there.” She paused before continuing, talking a little softer. “They have a counter that counts down to when the heroes arrive. Each hero has a folder that apparently has their past, future and present in. The moogles have been running wild with rumors about that.”

All of which were rumors Umiko didn’t really want to hear.

It was completely necessary for Yuffie to want to kick him before talking to him. She straightened up holding her chin high as she watched and listened to his comment.

“You’re the only one I know who’d take something like that as a compliment.” Her eyes narrowed slightly while her arms fold over her chest. This was frustrating and annoying and she really wanted to kick him again. He was such a jerk!

“So what are your plans then?” Yuffie’s current plan was to stalk him and then keep an eye out on him. She hated Rufus a little less than Sephiroth but they were both up there as far as people she disliked. She had to protect Wutai and the way she say it, Rufus was always going to be an obstacle as long as he dreamed about his stupid worthless company.

“It’s nice to meet you Rufus.” Her lips curled into a wide, gentle smile. Terra was only ever forceful when the moment called for it. Usually that moment involved kittens and not random strangers. She still feels a little bit bad about scolding him though she didn’t believe that she was wrong either. He should be nicer to the moogles.

“Yes.”

Terra chewed on the side of her mouth, a habit she only recently picked up, before responding her tone was soft and while the topic wasn’t the happiness there was no hint of sadness in her voice. She had already become desensitized. “It isn’t a monster. The Calamity is something far worse. Its appearance is that of a crystal. I haven’t seen it myself but it grows and begins to swallow everything in its path.” She paused for a moment, her arms shifting the flowers she was carrying.

“If the heroes of light go near it, it begins to grow faster. I don’t know why but I was told it might have something to do with the crystals we carry. They are somehow connected to our homes and they will pull the Calamity there as well. I think the Calamity is more like a reset. If we cannot defeat it; our souls will be trapped in this world forever. I’ve heard that people have run into those they knew before, from their homes, but they have no memory of it since they were born on Crystallis. There have been other heroes in the past but they have failed.” She paused and then shook her head. “There is a lot more. I know that the old observatory is collecting more information than what I have. There is a heroes guild there.” Which Terra did not visit except to drop off flowers.
