Intro Log || This Keeps Happening

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of January. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Snow. Also some leftover decorations from Christmas.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With Christmas being barely over, there are still Christmas Decoration in the streets, and while the reconstruction are nearly over, there are still traces of the attack the Empire led against the city six months ago. A few buildings are being worked on.

And besides the decorations and reconstructions, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and a Blitzball Match is set to start at 20:00 in the stadium! Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them discussing about the election for the future director of Mognet. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —
A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have for order to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened a couple months ago.

Close Encounters of the Third(?) Kind
— 15:00 —
Characters venturing by between the city's outskirts and the Chocobo Farm at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a Chocobo before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Previous sightings of such a thing have happened. It might be a good idea to investigate this sometimes...

"Let's see... I plan on going to the store. Purchase dinner for myself." He was definitely mocking her now. Even if he did have a more grand plan, he wasn't going to tell Yuffie about it unless it was beneficial for him. Stopping the Calamity would be one of those rare times, but he had nothing concrete yet.

"Eating is rather important, wouldn't you agree?" He could never win in a fight against Yuffie, but if he could annoy her without getting killed in the process, that was a win to him.

Unfortunately, conversations with anyone aren't Sparks's strong suit. He gives Duster a shrug.

"I ain't gonna stop ya. Mi casa es su casa, like, literally. Kitchen's that way, 's got most stuff you'll probably need. Bathroom's upstairs. I mean, it's a house, and it's small, I'm sure you'll figure it out."

"Because their leader thought they were too boring for his tastes." That was basically it. And because the scientists thought it would be interesting. "They combined a cow with a rattlesnake and called it a Cattlesnake, and those can hit hard." Duster had no clue about snake-like creatures on Crystallis, but he was sure a more dangerous version existed somewhere.

Tidus laughed. He felt warm from seeing her so happy, and he ran with her, his eyes fixated on the hand that grasped his. There were still a lot of things he wanted to say, but right now he was just enjoying the moment.

"Mognet Central?" Maybe he should have been paying more attention. He found himself looking around. Some of what he saw was familiar, other stuff was new, especially when they approached the Ninth District.

"I thought moogles were just stuffed animals. When I first got to Spira," He had learned that wasn't the case, at least not everywhere, during the war. He found himself smiling without realizing he was at her little chuckle. "So we're going to their--"

He turned his head when he heard the moogle. A moogle, especially this close to Mognet Central, wasn't that surprising. When he saw Vaan though, he stopped. He felt a little awkward at first, but he wasn't sure if Vaan recognized him.

"Hey! It's you!" Because that explained everything.

Duster communicates back with some silence. This house really is going to be quiet, even with four of us here, he thought to himself. That's disappointing.

"...Thanks," he says before steps to the side and makes his way upstairs. The bathroom door is open, and he notes it before moving down the hallway into his own.

Empty, but the bed is already made. "...It's small, but I like it." Any room would be small when his room consisted of the basement for most of his life.

"I imagine they are, I don't think any skills I have now would match." Which isn't to say she's in a hurry to demonstrate, if the way she subtly hugs herself was any indication.

"That makes it seem as if it's something you do for a living, or intend to."

"Well, they got a guy there called the Sage there who knew what us Heroes were up to, about the Calamity, all that stuff. The reason they lowered their defenses was cuz he knew we wanted to come, so they dropped 'em."

Some pretty bad stuff happened to Johnny while there, and he's not too happy to be recounting his time there, so he'll cut to the point.

"He also knew the Calamity, which's been dormant for a few month now, would start growin' again this month. So, um. There's that."

"Well not to brag, but I've tried to go pro for a while now," said Zack. "I went to another city in America, New York, to try and get somewhere. It didn't work out too well but I'm still trying to find my place."

"So everything's begun, same old same old. Hmm..." Zack folded his arms.

"There's got to be some way to stop it before it starts up. And this Sage... can we get in contact with him again?"

"I don't know what those words mean, I'm sorry. Why did you say letters instead of a name?"

He gestures with his left hand, exposing a middle finger which has been chopped off about halfway down.

"I'm from the North. We rarely have books, let alone people who can read or know their letters. So you may have to explain what you do to me. Assume I'm a dumb, eh... barbarian, you could say."

He flashes a smile, letting Aya in on the secret that maybe he's not as dumb as he pretends, but he certainly isn't familiar with modern society.

"Uh. It's been... a year 'n a half." Sparks practically mutters that last part. It's never good news to give a newbie.

As far as the Mars part, he's used to getting that reaction since he's arrived here. He hadn't met anyone outside of the people here from his home universe came from anywhere near his timeline.

"Yep. That Mars. The one 'n only. Been the marshal there for several years now, but actually, I'm... from Earth."

Who knows why that pause is there, but he says that as if it's supposed to mean something.

Ramza nodded. "A little over a year now. Ramza Beoulve." He offered a hand for Zack to shake.

"You seem to be adjusting well. Am I right to assume dancing is something you were acquainted with before you became a Hero?"

"That's convenient."

Also, magic.

"Yeah. I've never really used the Lock Vehicles much, only know how they're used from videos and such," said Zack.

Zack shook enthusiastically for a moment. "Nice to meet you Ramza."

He shrugged a little. "Dancing is important to me. I'm aiming to go professional soon."

"The pleasure's all mine, Miss Terra." Fake pleasantries, but it seemed to be working at least. Things were definitely a lot easier when people didn't want to kill him on sight. Truly a concept.

So, the Calamity was a giant crystal? Definitely different than Jenova. Didn't make it any less of a danger, but the description came as a surprise. A crystal that grew and swallowed everything in its path and that process only sped up when they went near it. Well, this all sounded terrible, didn't it?

"The old observatory? I suppose that will be my next stop."

"Vaan!" was the first thing that sounded from her when she turned, hearing the moogle's voice. "Ah..." her words stumbled slightly at Montblanc's quip, making a bit of heat burn into her cheeks. But when she quickly realized the situation, her eyes daring from Montblanc, to Vaan, to Tidus... then to their hands. Darkening a few shades deeper, she quickly released her grasp on the hand, trying -- and failing, to make it look natural.

"Um... I'm sorry, you're right," her head bowed slightly as she tried her best to shake off the spotlitght she found herself in. "Mmm-montblanc, wasn't it? I'll remember that, next time." Up until the conflict the only moogles Yuna had ever seen had been stuffed, after all.

But as the two blonds collided, she looked hopeful. "Vaan, this is..."

Yuna's cheeks burning made Vaan grin slightly. Probably his first since Ashe had gone. But he looked to Tidus with his eyebrow raised. "It's me."

Although he was honestly surprised Tidus knew him. They'd only ever met between skirmishes and they hadn't been on the same side. Still, he'd known she cared for the Blitzball player, but last they saw each other... well, the guy was kind of mopey. He seemed a lot happier now and Vaan could see why, even if Yuna was clearly unsure of their public display. "That's right, kupo, I'm Montblanc."

He stepped closer, hands on his hips and he examined Tidus, rather exaggeratedly too. "Hm... Tidus, right? You're acting a lot less Chaotic than before. Yuna finally jog your memory?"

I mean, it's hard work if you're serious about it but anyone can do it.

[He raises his eyebrows, briefly surprised, but he smooths his expression over and scratches the back of his neck.]

I guess that makes sense. If you get people from other worlds who want to play, it might take a long time until they're able to hold their breath that long. But I want to use one of those and go in the ocean.

[Not that he needs it, he just thinks it sounds convenient.]

Immediately, Tidus jumps back, unsure of whether the smoke was prelude to an attack. Mogtide exclaims and flies beside him. He shifts into a defensive stance, Brotherhood held close to him, and is ready to fight...

Until Rikku jumps down, and he nearly drops his sword, stunned, before beaming and running over to her.

"Rikku! You're here too!"

Because Vaan wasn't from Spira, Tidus didn't immediately retract his hand. When Yuna relinquished his, he suddenly looked to the side, humming to himself and probably making the whole action that much less subtle. He wasn't exactly uncomfortable, but this was new. He wanted to avoid comments about it.

"I thought it was funny," He remarked casually, returning his attention to Vaan. He managed to look sheepish, suddenly very fascinated by his shoes, but he didn't move away.

"Uhhh...something like that. Looks like we're on the same side now though!" Which he definitely preferred.

Tidus just seemed to have a way of washing Yuna's concerns out to sea. There was a small, grateful look his way as he insisted their quick laugh had been worth it, before turning back to Vaan and his moogle again. "It's... the same it was with us, I think. All of his memories are probably back," there was a quick, mismatched glance back at the blitzer. "Um, right?"

Had the War of the Gods been more forgiving on their minds, perhaps most of Chaos' warriors would never have had to fight for his ideals. She clasped her hands in front of her, offering Vaan a smile as she continued.

"He only just recently arrived, I was showing him some of the landmarks in the city," there was a nod to follow up her statement, she couldn't help it, she was elated, filled with energy. "Sort of like when you came, too," she added, with a quiet laugh.

Jack shifted her weight, watching the two talk. Yeah, the moogle was a little cagey - at least compared to Royale at any rate. Damn, this lady had a look to her. Had to be trained, considering how quickly she glanced over.

"You a blue?", she canted her head to the other side. "Or military?"

Probably a cop. Pretty military girls tended to be way more bitchy from jump to compensate. With all these people, from all over everywhere - it was hard to get a bead on where she was likely from.

I hadn't thought of that. That sounds wonderful, being able to swim in the ocean without having to worry about holding your breath or wearing a special diving mask.

[Pyrrha smiles, imagining what the experience might be like.]

Yuffie nodded her head and then waved her hand absently. "Yeah but that old geezer always asks for something in return. If you ask for to many things he'll have you running all over the place. Besides, if it's magic from home you want then it won't work here anyway."

Which really pissed Yuffie off because she had a case of materia that she couldn't use. It was nice to have around because it was familiar, it looked pretty and it made her feel more special than the others fro Gaia who didn't have any but it was still completely useless and hidden in her room for the time being.

"I wouldn't worry about you things anyway."
