Intro Log || This Keeps Happening

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of January. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Snow. Also some leftover decorations from Christmas.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With Christmas being barely over, there are still Christmas Decoration in the streets, and while the reconstruction are nearly over, there are still traces of the attack the Empire led against the city six months ago. A few buildings are being worked on.

And besides the decorations and reconstructions, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and a Blitzball Match is set to start at 20:00 in the stadium! Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them discussing about the election for the future director of Mognet. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —
A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have for order to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened a couple months ago.

Close Encounters of the Third(?) Kind
— 15:00 —
Characters venturing by between the city's outskirts and the Chocobo Farm at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a Chocobo before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Previous sightings of such a thing have happened. It might be a good idea to investigate this sometimes...

YEP RIALYNN VANISHED IMMEDIATELY.

But she hovered outside the entrance waiting for Yuna to finish her business there, while waiting for the red to fade from her face.

"There are potions that can do that?" she gasped, her eyes widening. "That sounds useful! How long do the effects last? I imagine just about every ship would carry a supply of these potions just in case."

Yuna laughed softly. "I think they are expensive but it lasts about 10 minutes? I don't know where else you can get them besides at the Blitzball stadium and then keep them locked up." She didn't think people would want to use them or if they did use them for much else.

"There also isn't all that much sea travel with airships." At least commercially. They always have to find someone willing to take them to Aqures Tofs.

"Yeah...even when it's calm this world can be pretty interesting. Hopefully we won't have to deal with another invasion any time soon." Cloud looked off into the distance after the vanished craft. He hoped he wasn't digging their own grave with his words.

"If you find out anything more about that thing let me know. I want to help."

"Yeah. Exactly a dream. Except we were all in the bodies of other people. Or ourselves...but not in control. It was kinda terrible...and a warning I guess?"

Cloud's handshake started tentative but firmed and he gave Tidus a solid smile, "Zanakand huh? Never heard of it...So how do you know me then?" Even if it was from another world or something it was better than having someone show up from his future and expecting him to be a certain way.

I...I'm sorry. I don't really know. There's some talk sometimes about what we'd do if we got to go home but...

[He takes a long breath before continuing.]

Two people from my world turned to crystal...well more than that but two woke up again. One was a bit older and the other was a few years older. They said it was more like dreaming than it was like going home.

And the others who are in crystal stasis...I don't know. I just hope they're not awake. I don't think they are.

For now, we're here to do what we need to do to save this world. And honestly, if I get the choice after all of this is done I may just stay.

[Now his expression flattens.]

Good luck with that. Considering this planet doesn't have horses.

[Well, except for that weird cyborg one that cop rides, but that doesn't quite count.]

Regardless of how important it was to the ShinRa President, that propaganda was indeed how his personal army wound up recruiting the boy who would turn into the man that would help tear down everything. After all, what better life could a boy from the backwaters hope for than to become a Hero like the Great Sephiroth?

"Y-yeah...I mean, I KNOW but...It's complicated." Knowing wasn't the same as living. He'd felt the hatred for Sephiroth his future self would feel, but it wasn't his own. He merely watched. "And...Sephiroth does too. As long as we're here in Crystallis I'm hoping it winds up happening." It was a flawed wish. After all, the only people from Gaia now in this world who hadn't experienced that event were himself and Sephiroth. And yet, his hope hinged on the fact that Sephiroth had at least learned the truth WITHOUT going crazy...so far.

And that gets to her again, to the point that she's now in deliberate pursuit. There won't be any 'smiling' in return, none of that 'responding with kindness' garbage. No, that's her deal, given the villain she still pretends to be!

This time she teleports into his path, arms folded under her chest, scowling once again, her hair more organized, circling around her feet. Granted she hadn't thought of a word to say to him, but just to get an expression of irritation, that look of 'now I am inconvenienced' would bring her all the satisfaction.

Nevermind maybe letting Jaeha's moogle catch up.

"Cars huh? We have those back on Gaia but they're pretty expensive. Nothing I could afford from what I was being paid as a grunt. Anyway, Chocobos are like horses from what I've heard. They're birds big enough that you can ride them. I work at the ranch just outside of the city if you need or want to get one for yourself."

"Over a thousand years. It's 3014 in my time." Sparks even had part of that future technology in the form of a cyborg horse that Aya should meet sometime soon.

"Meanwhile, time keeps tickin' on by there while we're stuck here." He waves a hand enthusiastically at the city. "I mean, it ain't a bad place to live when things ain't goin' totally bonkers. Or when the apocalypse ain't looming in the horizon. Or when the moogles are on strike for the hundredth time in a month."

"Well, the good news is, Heroes get free transportation too. So ya can go sow yer wild oats or whatever while out on an airship to Esdham or Balicea, or somethin'. And the Heroes got a big new airship at their disposal, too. Not for personal stuff, for group missions 'n stuff. It's pretty sweet though."

Sparks never thought he'd like an airship, after living around starships all his life. But the Enterprise was kind of cool.

[Just like that, she gives up the fight. It's so easy that it's almost suspicious. He wonders if she'd do the same for any of these other unfortunate fellows rousing from their sleep.]

[Kulana is disgusted.]

'You're the worst. How can you pretend none of this concerns you? You were summoned here to protect everyone, and your world too! Don't you care about them?'

[Jaeha rises to his feet, pressing his hands into his pockets. He's still smiling as he turns his back on the Moogle and strolls out of the temple.]

'Jerk... I'm sorry, Zelda. You shouldn't have had to deal with that louse.'

"And a pleasure meeting you, Terra." He straightened from his bow and turned back to the docks, his long emerald ponytail flagging in the strong sea breeze. Some of the crewmen were signaling to him, so it was likely just about time to board and help load the boat.

She might have teleported a bit too far ahead on his path, because surprisingly, he isn't there. Did he turn down one of the side streets? Duck into an alley?

...Nope, he's hitting on a lady merchant, leaning on her stall and exchanging pleasant small talk which she obviously seems to enjoy. Yes, this was far more pleasant than playing some sort of weird anger game with a crazy woman.

R-really? You're sure it's okay?

[Look at that dumb bard, she seems so happy. She needs to find some water to put them in right away!]

Oh wow, kittens...! I don't know if I should take one, my roommate might be allergic. And they're not really fit for traveling, but... Well it couldn't hurt just to say hello, right?

[Zelda shakes her head and smiles at the moogle.]

He might come around. Try and have hope.

[She digs through her bag and pulls out a small pouch of kupo nuts for the moogle.]

And good luck.

[Terra's smile softened.]

They'll be happy for the company and no you don't have to take one.

[She's really glad that she brightened up the girls face with a smile.]

Rufus would point out that he was well-aware that being a jerk to everyone wasn't going to do him any good. He could be very charming thank you very much. But Yuffie wouldn't believe him and he didn't really care to change her opinion of him. He just had to make sure that she wouldn't kill him where he stood.

Although, Yuffie bringing up Reno was a little surprising. Her comment made it sound like she has grown close to the Turk.

"Don't you know? I pay him to listen to me." Well, it was honestly a bit more than that. There was a genuine level of trust and respect that went both ways. They stayed together even after Shinra fell, after he lost his position. It meant something to him, although Rufus didn't want to reveal such things to her.

"Hah, I like you already Brea. Sometimes I just ignore the things too." He shifts his weight a bit, easing off a right leg that has been twinging slightly from some battlescar or another "They call us heroes around here. You fancy yourself one?"

A harp, huh? That would go well with this ocarina. It wasn't a rock band, but it would be just as nice. He'd have to ask Tamekichi later about electricity in this world, but he hadn't seen anything resembling a computer so far in the few hours he was here.

It reminded him of the old Tazmily, only bigger.

"Thanks." He pocketed the instrument. "What's at the Observatory?"

When Yuna protested, Vaan only gave her a look and smirked when she relented and admitted the truth. Not that it mattered, it had been all in good fun and Vaan really hadn't minded. She had let him rest if needed and gotten food as well (no filching this time).

"Sure, I'll tag along. I could use something to eat," Vaan nodded. Montblanc groaned and waved his paw at him. "You just ate, kupo!"

"It was just an apple, totally not a meal."

"It was candied and big, kupo."

"Mont, seriously? You're just mad because I didn't pay for it." Montblanc only puffed in annoyance and crossed his little arms. Vaan shrugged at the other two. "Don't mind him. I'd be happy to tag along."

"You don't have to be a good fighter to be a Rider either. Like I said, it's all about the heart of it."

Just at that moment, a cargo airship sails by the window that entrances Duster. He'd seen blimps and flying limos, but the concept of flight is still a magical thing to him. Most of the time, flights end with him and his friends plummeting to their apparent deaths. Hopefully it isn't the case here.

"Other cities in this world. Right," he states more as a way to confirm that yes, this is real and there are more cities of this size out there. "Just how big is this world?"

"Huh... monsters that long ago. Actual monsters or 'aliens'?" Because he knows both, and what a history lesson this would be if he could find out some of the origins of some of the wild shit that was going on in his time!

"Well, you know, I'm asking you a bunch of questions... you don't have to answer. I think I'm still hung up on you looking like my friend back home. But if you have questions, I'll try to answer them. It'll be more than what the Moogles provide."

Rufus was not the only one to complete a quick once-over, her focus going to areas in which he had been stricken by Geostigma. The lack thereof narrowing the time periods that he could have potentially been taken from.

Not that it meant that he'd remember anything from the City. Which was mostly a good thing. She didn't want to dig up those old memories unnecessarily.

Returning the hat to her head, she gave a quick nod. It was no surprise to her that Reno had already contacted Rufus - the man moved like a cat and somehow was always a step ahead of her. Nevertheless, she would provide the requested information.

"I arrived a little over a month ago with limited information about the city and role as an alleged 'Hero'. I'm guessing that Reno told you that this isn't my first time in a world besides Gaia. Based on my calculations, I have been absent from Gaia for roughly 4 years before awakening here."

Though now that seemed irrelevant, considering that her world shattered around her upon coming here.

"My class appears to be a Gunner with a Red Mage as my secondary. I live in building B-09 with a woman named Terra and a pre-Nibiehlehim incident Sephiroth. Physically I have no major injuries to speak of, just some after-effects of previous altercations and illness. Otherwise, I am fit for duty."

She's kept her answers simple and straight to the point. Void of any unnecessary facts or details. Professional. And so she stops, giving the man a second to absorb the information she's provided. But only for a moment. She's seen him too many times come into her life in a way she would never want to see him come back in.

"You appear to be 'stigma free, sir."

Its both a statement and a question, though the latter is hinted subtly.
