Intro Log || This Keeps Happening

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of January. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Snow. Also some leftover decorations from Christmas.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With Christmas being barely over, there are still Christmas Decoration in the streets, and while the reconstruction are nearly over, there are still traces of the attack the Empire led against the city six months ago. A few buildings are being worked on.

And besides the decorations and reconstructions, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and a Blitzball Match is set to start at 20:00 in the stadium! Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them discussing about the election for the future director of Mognet. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —
A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have for order to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened a couple months ago.

Close Encounters of the Third(?) Kind
— 15:00 —
Characters venturing by between the city's outskirts and the Chocobo Farm at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a Chocobo before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Previous sightings of such a thing have happened. It might be a good idea to investigate this sometimes...

Wait...turned to crystal?

[Rialynn tenses up, the uneasiness apparent in her voice. How did something like that even happen? And how in the world did someone wake up from that sort of thing?]

Why would you want to stay? Is your own world really that bad?

No horses...?

[Her voice breaks at the end into a near-comical squeak. But without horses, how do people travel? Surely there had to be something to use before those airship things were invented.]

[And the robo-horse would totally count, since she'd probably think the cyborg parts were just armor.]

But...my horse...who's going to feed it while I'm here...

[She takes another slow, self-conscious step back, but her knee buckles. She might be a little overwhelmed at this point.]

[She hasn't seen kittens since she left home. It wasn't something she thought she'd miss, until Terra offered her the chance to play with a few. Cats are very yes.]

I will! Thank you! ....Where is it again?

[She turns her head as if she might see the shop just outside the temple entrance.]

Bird...things?

Seeing Rialynn's confusion, Kuponia chimed in. "Those are called chocobos," she supplied helpfully. Rialynn made a silent 'ah' and nodded.

But she still had no idea what a car was. "Cars...is that short for 'carriage?'" she hazarded a guess. They'd already covered ships, so she couldn't think of anything else that would require some sort of 'driving.'

Yeah it...happens. If you die here, if you're a Hero, you turn to crystal and may wake up a week later. Others just change without warning. Some wake up and some don't.

And no, Gaia's not bad. But almost everyone I care about is here. And as long as Sephiroth and I are here then maybe...well maybe certain things won't happen.

[He sighs and rubs the back of his neck, looking up at the sky.]

Sorry. Maybe it's just selfish of me to think that way. But here I can be a Hero instead of being a grunt. Even if I don't become the person that the others expect me to be, at least it's something I chose.

Wait, I don't...

[She holds out her hand as if to stem the sudden tide of unexpected information. It's a LOT to take in. People being turned to crystal? People didn't die? Did that make them zombies, or creatures of the night? Who's Sephiroth?! What certain things?]

[Hand still extended, her other hand fumbles behind her to find a bench to sit on. There isn't a bench. She falls onto her butt, and massages her temples.]

Well...yeah, that's understandable. Most people want to be a hero, don't they?

[They get inspired by stories, and tales of valor, and want to be something great. Rialynn can focus on that much, at least.]

[Terra points to the girls moogle.]

It's right outside the housing district. Your moogle can show you the way.

[She isn't good with directions.]

[Cloud read that reaction very well. He winced a bit, feeling bad for dumping all of this on a newcomer. Even as things had been pretty peaceful going through the holidays there was a shadow looming ahead of them. He didn't realize quite how much it was weighing on his shoulders.

He sits down next to her, offering an apologetic nod.]

Yeah. Especially kids like me from a backwater. I'm sorry for just throwing all of this at you. This whole situation with this world is complicated, but all of us here are doing our best to help each other out.

"Great. There's a lot of other stuff that's been happening here, but Zelda's been good about keeping notes on everything. And if you have any other questions or problems we'll all try to do our best to help you out." He looked around at everyone gathered about. There was confusion in the air on both sides, but it didn't mean that things were hopeless. They all had each other at least.

"Is there anything else you wanted to know?" He could ask where she last saw Chocobos another time perhaps. Like if she visited the ranch.

"Something like that, yeah. I mean, I know what's going to happen because Tifa told me, but also because of a dream we had. All of us. In it Sephiroth and I were our future selves. I don't remember everything about his past but I know how he felt when they fought and the things he thought about when they did."

He waved his hand, as if trying to dismiss that future history. "But if we're here on Gaia all of that won't...can't happen, right? It's one thing to know what's going to happen but if we're not there...and even if we become our future selves we'll still remember everything about this world. It's not the same."

But the thing was that it was a subject that Sephiroth had avoided wanting to talk about while Cloud had grown a bit fervent in trying to defy. All the others from Gaia on the other had had been fairly fatalistic about his future and its inevitability. Faced with future trauma and a shattered mind on a plate, is it any wonder Cloud would try to find another way out?

"The Old Observatory."

She corrected lightly. "It's located in on a hill in one of the districts. Your moogle should know the way if you ever wish to find yourself there."

Yuna nodded her head. "Yes. There hasn't been trouble so long as I've been here and I used to travel the world on one at home." It had been a fun memorable time.

"Anything else you want to see?"

She covered most of the stadium but she wanted to ask and make sure.

"Haggle who? The group that had it before?"

"A corporation called Yggdrasil. We needed Lock Vehicles from their dealers."

A analogy for a more terrible kind of dealing, but it was how Zawame used to be.

"Like buying a used car?" Nanami was a pretty sheltered girl in many respects.

"Kind of. To play in the inves games we had to buy lockseeds. After a while, the dealers just stopped coming around." No doubt due to the fact that Yggdrasil was supplying Jounouchi with them.

"Well, the way to the Jenoine's... world," it wasn't quite the right word for where the Jenoine resided, but it would do, "was open, but only their magic had come through. The sorceress that opened the portal and her companion believed their allies would banish the Jenoine once they had secured what they wanted." Tazendra's voice made it clear she thought of this plan a bit like playing around with nuclear weapons to solve an argument.

"I do not know precisely what happened, as I was gravely wounded by the sorceress in trying to take down her companion's protections. But a friend of mine arrived here and assured me that the portal was closed by reinforcements."

"Some?" Tear wasn't expecting an answer to the question, the word having slipped past more out of habit as she shook her head to communicate that. They had only just meet, therefore she had no right to be asking him about such personal details.

"Whatever it is you choose to do during your time here in Crystallis, I hope it's without regrets."

[Sometime. It already sounded as if Jaeha was going far away. Not that he couldn't live with that, but it was a little unsettling that he wouldn't be able to sense his presence at all if he was away.

But he keeps this part of his thoughts to himself.]

I will. I believe Ace would be interested in your music, I talked a bit about it to him.

[Kija contemplates this for a moment. 'Tied' to it wasn't really the right word, not like he had been to the Hakuryuu village, where he wasn't allowed to go outside, but...]

I do have work around here, though exploring the world here might be interesting.

[It would be a lie to say that he wasn't interested.]

"Some," confirmed Zack. "On one hand, I can rest easy knowing Peco will look after Team Baron. On the other hand, we just dealt with a new emerging threat in my homeland."

"Thanks, I hope so too."

[He makes a move towards her reflexively when she stumbles, but stops himself, knowing that's a bad idea. He sighs softly, simultaneously frustrated and feeling bad for her. It's not like he's not been in this same position, new and overwhelmed, more than once.]

Someone else. It sucks, but we're workin' to fix everything here to get people home as fast as we can. Until yer ready to help, just work on learning what this place is like and get to know the other Heroes. We're all in the same boat.

"Of course not! This world doesn't have Teensies living in it; it makes my very existence here a curiosity among the locals, don't you know?" He spoke with a lax smile. The stares didn't bother him anymore, and that fact become more of a joking topic than a discussion of how annoying moving here has been.

"Everyone we call a Hero of Light came from another world, and we all need to stand in solidarity when a new group shows up. I'm sure there'll be more coming in here after me."

[Kulana accepts the kupo nuts graciously, then sighs.]

'It'll take more than luck to get through to a guy like that. But thank you. I'll have to rethink this.'

[With a polite bow, Kulana turns away, lost in thought. This will take all of her knowledge and effort. Maybe that's why she was assigned to him, because he was a tough nut to crack!]

[Law enforcement? He can't say he likes the sound of it, if that means she has something to do with his presence here. He'll withhold his judgment, but remain wary all the same for now.]

[He will, however, accept her hand and politely kiss her knuckles with a light peck. He's a proper gentleman, after all.]

Jaeha. It's a pleasure, Selen.

[His gaze slides back to the bound thug. Ordinarily he might offer to help her walk him to jail, but that sort of situation sounds...well, it's unappealing. He's not fond of places with iron bars.]

No need to apologize. Will you be able to manage escorting your prisoner, or will you require back up?

My music? Well now, seems I'm a popular topic of conversation!

[Even if he's not supposed to be flattered, he's going to be anyway. His ego pretty much demands it. It's nice to know he's been talked about, even when he's not here.]

What kind of work would that be? Finish it up.

[He gestures as if this shouldn't be a difficult thing to do.]

I want to see some of these other cities. You can show me around.

[More like Jaeha will just take off and explore at his own leisure, making Kija chase after him constantly.]
