Intro Log || This Keeps Happening

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of January. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Snow. Also some leftover decorations from Christmas.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With Christmas being barely over, there are still Christmas Decoration in the streets, and while the reconstruction are nearly over, there are still traces of the attack the Empire led against the city six months ago. A few buildings are being worked on.

And besides the decorations and reconstructions, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and a Blitzball Match is set to start at 20:00 in the stadium! Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them discussing about the election for the future director of Mognet. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —
A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have for order to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened a couple months ago.

Close Encounters of the Third(?) Kind
— 15:00 —
Characters venturing by between the city's outskirts and the Chocobo Farm at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a Chocobo before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Previous sightings of such a thing have happened. It might be a good idea to investigate this sometimes...

[This isn't a store Chiaki comes to terribly often - at least not since she put Bard on the backburner - but she does stop in every so often to buy things to keep her own guitar in good working order. New strings and whatnot. Overhearing the conversation between Duster and his moogle, she blinks at them from a few feet away.]

...It's not that hard, really. Harps and flutes are more standard Bard instrument choices, but guitars aren't unheard of. If you get them reinforced, you can even use them as melee weapons.

[One of the people practicing blitzball as Estelle walks through the city just so happens to be Pyrrha. She's focused more on the game than Estelle, and when they bump into one another, she's rather quick with the apology too, mirroring the polite bow.]

It's all right, it was my fault for not watching for pedestrians.

Ah! Excuse me...!

[After overhearing the brief conversation about blitzball, it looks like Tidus has attracted the attention of a certain redhead. She jogs after him and his moogle, waving her hand in the air.]

[As Rufus makes his way past the library, Levy overhears his remark as she's headed off to her other job at the laboratory. Frowning, she stops to talk, offering a somber nod.]

...Yes, there was a big one around the end of July. It was actually in much worse shape than this for a while. It's only recently that most of the city has started to look like it used to.

[Levy had come out to greet the new Heroes, but for the moment all she can do is watch as this argument plays out in front of her. After a time, though, she slowly steps forward, raising a hand sheepishly.]

Ah... am I interrupting something? I can come back if you'd like.

Just a little argument...! [Exclaimed Erika for a moment before Coffret realized he had a human audience and he dropped to the ground like a doll.

Scooping him up, she grinned a little.] Hi, what's up?

“New Year’s just past here too.” She gave him a wink. “Those close are connected to your job. You got your crystal right? The crystal holds your jobs and your jobs help you fight.”

See it’s simple!

Though she wasn’t going to elaborate more because that was tedious and she just didn’t want to. Instead she waited for him to figure out what he was thinking or doing before saying more. She’ll answer but slowly and it’ll feel like he’s prying answers from her with each question.

Yuffie has had a lot of time to grow up in Crystallis, not that Rufus will really notice because her first action was to kick him hard in the shin. She had to get it out of her system, more so considering she’ll be forced to see his stupid face around.

“Aren’t you cheery.” Her tone continued to remain dark. “I really doubt that your goal is to save this world. You’re just going to find another way to drain it.”

She wasn’t about to mention the crystals power and how the large crystals were fueled by the souls of the death and how he might be able to harness that power much like materia. Nope, she wasn’t mentioning anything about that because he was a jerk. She thought about Reno for a second and pouted. They were finally getting along and she figured Rufus’s presence would fuck that up.

“What are you really planning?” She narrowed her eyes at him. “No matter where you go you’re still an ass who only thinks about himself and his stupid company.” There are clearly more important things to life.

Umiko raised an eyebrow at Aya. “I’m glad to hear that my world is only a storybook to you.” There was a slight bitterness to her tone though she quickly moved past it. She was used to the heroes but that didn’t mean she liked it. Umiko would have rather saved her own home then rely on people who didn’t even want to be here.

“Cid is one of those in charge of the city while the Queen is away. He’s the one who hired me to help too.” She spoke slowly as if Aya might miss something. “You can talk to him but he probably doesn’t know more than the other heroes and he’s almost always very busy and very short with people.” For lack of a better way to explain it, he was perpetually grumpy.

“You can also find most of the information about this place in the old observatory. It seems to be where the heroes are holding up.” She didn’t go there very often except to drop off maps.

Yuna nodded her head before flicking her mismatched gaze past the woman. When she spoke her tone was even betraying no emotion despite the topic at hand. “This world is filled with fiends and monsters. If you want to leave the city you need a way to fight them. Of course there are people out to hurt us as well but the monsters are what surprise most people.”

She was used to them but not all worlds are like hers. She knew that fact first hand after traveling to one other herself. She pulled her gaze back towards Aya, her pointer finger lightly scratching along her cheek.

“I never did introduce myself did I?” She didn’t remember.

“That’s pretty amazing.” Yuna’s smile grew. “I danced a few times but it was usually alone.” There was one time where she had backup dancers only that hadn’t been her. She did however really like the song and guessed that it had been something from Lenne versus Leblanc. She never did ask though.

She waved a hand in the air before glancing up at the sky. She still had time.

“Are you planning to continue dancing here?” Her tone was light and easy but there was an air of uncertainty there. She knew that Johnny was a freelance artist like that but she also knew that he never had a lot of money because of it.

"I was thinking when I get settled in, I can sort out a new Team Baron," said Zack with half grin. "A new street dance team as it were."

"And I was thinking about it, but I like dancing for fun, more than tips actually. It's a lot of fun when you dance for entertainment and the pleasure of the crowd, as well as your own satisfaction."

An argument. With your... doll?

[Levy eyes that suspiciously.]

[It's rare for someone to beat Jaeha to the vigilantism punch. He'd been stiff and on alert the first moment he heard the cry, backpedaling from the array of fishing supplies to see the source of the commotion.]

[Now far be it from Jaeha to judge man's tastes, but a gentleman was seldom seen bolting through a crowd and shoving people sporting a lady's handbag, particularly after a woman cried out. Would that his leg still worked properly, he'd have pounced the criminal in a heartbeat. Instead he maneuvered himself forward, preparing to intercept the criminal.]

[Then the pursesnatcher became the personal landing pad for Selen.]

[Well now! Jaeha blinked, surprised, but impressed. He stood at the man's head before crouching down into a casual squat. He gives the man's head a firm poke, earning a muffled groan.]

You can't say you didn't deserve that.

[Resting his forearms on his knees, he lifts his head and smiles casually at the woman who took down the thug.]

Not too shabby. You do this kind of thing for a living?

Kulana was not pleased. She was still stunned that her Hero had actually run away. Had she been assigned the wrong Hero? Surely all of her hard work, training, and education qualified her for a true champion of champions, the one that would lead them all to victory. And she got this guy instead.

She should have brought her staff, as this Hero was in need of a good whapping.

Just as she prepared to go in search of her favored weapon, she paused at seeing Acrisius's approach. "I'm sorry, but I've got a rogue Hero on the loose. Can this wait?"

Meanwhile, Jaeha was making his way swiftly down the street. At 6'2" with long, lean legs, he could cover quite a bit of distance with little difficulty. Unaware that Yuri had set out to follow him, Jaeha could sometimes be observed stopping for a moment, and then hopping in place. Every time he tried, he frowned, then continued running.

Damn, he'd just hit someone. Jaeha wasn't quite so callous and selfish that he'd just let that go. He did want to get out of here before any guards arrived (since this was surely some sort of trap from what little he could tell), but he was pretty sure he'd just mowed down a kid.

He grit his teeth. He shouldn't stop, couldn't afford to. But he'd hit that child hard enough to send him flying.

His shoulders hunched. Well, if the guards came, he was sure he could still kick them into next week, even without the strength of his Dragon's leg. He picked up Ales by the collar to set him on his feet, one hand braced on his chest to support him.

"You all right, little... Hm?"

His eyebrows rose, then furrowed. His smile remained, but there was a definite glint of wary suspicion. "And what might you be?" Not a child, that much was obvious.

It wasn't often Jaeha met other people that were taller than he was, and Valvalis was easily the largest woman he'd ever seen. Ah, would that he had the luxury of time to make her acquaintance, but there was no telling who was friend and who was foe in this city. To be on the safe side, he would have to assume all of them were responsible for his situation. At the very least, they were okay with it, and that made them culpable in his opinion.

When it seemed as if he might race right over her hair, he jumped. Sure, it wasn't as grand as it might have been with his powers in tact, but he could still clear a trail of hair on the ground.

As he sailed past, he shot her a knowing little smirk, his violet eyes fierce and bright. Then he hit the ground, and bolted further down the street.

I'll consider it.

[It's not exactly a lie. But he's already made up his mind on the matter, unfortunately.]

Now, why don't you tell me how long you've been here, and why you've decided to go along with this plan.

[Jaeha does trust Kija, but his younger brother does seem rather naive to him, and if someone's duped and manipulated the White Dragon, they'll face the Green Dragon's wrath.]

Stasis? He wasn't sure what that was. She did seem genuine, though, which gave him a small twang of guilt. The smile faded only fractionally as his gaze dropped. He was suspicious of this place, and couldn't possibly feel easy here, but he didn't want to take out his frustrations on anyone who truly didn't deserve it.

"Your concern warms my heart," he replied, grinning as he bowed with one arm swept to the side. "But if I must be completely honest, I don't remember meeting you before just now. Given that you possess a remarkable beauty, I wonder how this could be possible."

He lifted his head to look at her, studying her features carefully to see how she reacted to his declaration.

"Why don't you tell me how you knew my name?"

'Hmph! Some hero...'

[Kulana's expression easily displays her disappointment. It runs deep as she stands on top of Jaeha's back while he eats floor. He's not moving. Was she too rough on him? Jaeha's outstretched fingers twitch, and Kulana jumps back. Then he lifts his head, blood running out of his nose and over his...smile? He's definitely smiling.]

'You actually liked that, didn't you?! You're disgusting!'

[Kulana jumps on his head again, forcing his face back to the temple floor. Now he's starting to get a little annoyed. He speaks, his voice muffled.]

If you could do something about the furry tumor on my back, I'd very much appreciate it.

Uh, yeah, totally a doll!

[Kuplo Kopp sighed deeply as Coffret tried to keep a straight face.]

So uh, I'm Erika Kurumi.

[This face at Coffret. But only for a moment.]

Levy McGarden. You're new here, right?

[Coffret's face tried not to make a face back at her.]

Yeah, I just woke up a while ago. The moogle told me about this place but it's really weird.

Do you need help with anything? I've been here for a while myself.

Ah yeah actually. I could figure out where my house is, I mean I don't know where I am in relative location to that, and uh, sewing supplies. Any of that around?
