Politics and her line of work never really played well. Or rather, Aya never played well with politics in her line of work. Not when she was more liable to want to spew the truth than to remain muffled behind a gag order, as she was so often slapped with.
"I worked with the FBI before coming to this place. Perhaps there is something along those lines that I could do here." It isn't terrible advice, and part of the reason why she's going around asking questions before diving into a situation she might later regret. It seems more prudent to get a feel of the place before picking up a badge again in order to defend it.
