"Actual monsters," she says simply, like she was talking about going to the grocery store rather than her job being a real, no-bullshit monster hunter. "Most of them actually just used to be animals or people, but... they were changed, by a genetic mutation."

How that happened is just too long of a story to just go into, and not a subject she's eager to breach with someone she just met. Especially with this kid who, just moments ago, thought her to be this friend he seemed to know and care for very well.
