Chocobo - Go Go Go!

Summary: Cloud and his friends embark on a journey south across the continent to visit the fabled Chocobo Forest

To say that Cloud was overwhelmed by the support he received in chasing down a rumor for the sake of his chocobo would be an understatement. Friends and acquaintances both had come together to help, largely by a single bond: their love of Chocobos and their desire not to see one suffer any longer than he had to from the illness he’d been suffering. It would be a long journey, but as long as luck was with them and they moved swiftly he hoped that they would be back in around a week.

Cloud was pleasantly surprised enough when Zelda offered her aid in this quest before the idea was even fully formed. That she was there and ready and preparing not only her chocobo but her loftwing as well made Cloud smile brightly. It was just like her to do this, giving everything she had for the sake of one poor bird soul.

"Zelda. Thank you again for coming. For all of this." He looked at the loftwing and gave it a nod as well, "I've been wondering. Does she have a name?"

Zelda looked over from her work and smiled brightly. "Of course Cloud." She wouldn't dare leave one of her friends without her aid when they needed it. Added to the fact that she had watched Zack's condition worsen over the last few weeks. She had been there when the attack happened and she hadn't been able to help.

At his question, her lips pulled into a wide warm smile. "She does." Zelda informationed him softly but then shook her head.

"But I don't know it." She laughed as if guessing Cloud's reaction and then explained. "They have names, everything does but like us they are named by their family. I don't feel right giving her another name just because I don't know her name." It was Zelda's loftwing and they were connected. There really was no need for names.

Cloud nodded, smiling at Zelda and happy with her answer. While he wound up naming his bird Zack it was still a name he was happy with. He hadn't at that time considered that his companion would have a name he would have called himself otherwise. In fact Zack seemed so happy with it there wasn't a need to do so.

But of course Zelda would keep that in mind.

"Well if we ever have a way to find out what its name is please let me know. I'm going to get some more supplies to make sure we're ready to go. What does your loftwing like to eat?" While gyshal greens were very healthy he wanted to be sure the were feeding it correctly. Besides, the greens tended to be part of why chocobo's had the firm smell that they had.

Zelda smiled at Cloud’s question. Her loftwing often hunted for itself though Zelda occasionally gave the large bird treats. “She eats a lot of fish but she’ll eat a little bit of anything.” Her beak was designed to eat fish.

“She also eats most vegetables and greens.” In skyloft they would hunt for themselves but Zelda would still feed her bird different things that she thought it might like. Since arriving in Crystallis the loftwing has had a happy time finding different things to eat.

“You don’t have to worry about her though. I brought enough food for her and Mirror.” Zelda’s Chocobo.

Cloud should have expected that Zelda was already well prepared. Still, it never hurt to ask, especially when the questions might remind someone of something that they've forgotten. "Okay, that's good. I'm packing a little extra feed just in case." Not too much of course. If he weighed down the birds too much then that extra food would be more burden than aid.

"I think we'll be ready to go as soon as everyone else is done preparing."
