He didn't look back to Lydia as she turned her face to look up to his again, too busy keeping a careful eye on both the golem ahead and the surroundings. The trees were really much too close together here for him to wield Masamune as freely as he'd like; he wouldn't want to have to bring the whole forest down around them in the process. Not that he couldn't swing shorter, but that's a technique he's not had the room to trial out at all yet.
"There should be any number of clearings nearby; it might be a good idea to pick our battle ground before drawing its attention." In other words, he agreed, though perhaps it was symptom of the overall size of the golem making it hard to tell if there were areas further ahead which were thinner in trees; that would suggest a break in the cover.
