Lydia was staying low at least, hands still clasped over her ears by looking around. Fortunately Sephiroth was not a hard target to spot. Nor was he hard to hear, even with muffled ears, in the brief pause left by the mandragora's silence.

He was the more experienced soldier, even learning a new (old) job. Shoving down the battle-thirst from her own job, dropping her hands from her ears and moving out from her cover. Sprinting, being sure he saw her to go back the way they'd came. If need be, she'd change forms--but she'd navigated this well enough before while being chased, so hopefully it wouldn't be necessary. A small bat was much harder to see than a small girl, even for the older Hero's keen eyes.
