Event || Another Side, Another Story (Conclusion)

Characters: Anyone (only characters who came in as part of the event can start new threads).
Where: Anywhere
When: 29th of February.
Summary: As the final day of the event closes in, the characters who came in are on the verge of meeting with a terrible fate: some are going to die whilst some are going to crystallize and disappear. The tragedy may happen to them anytime from 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM on this day, so they can see some of their friends die or crystallize before it happens to them—Or not. If you plan on app’ing your character next week, then nothing will happen to them so long as their application is accepted. In doubt, you are free to wait until the application round starts and your app gets processed before posting here.
Warning: Tragedies of the Greek and Shakespearean flavors.

MELODIES OF DEATH
— Warning: If you pick this option, you will lock yourself out from ever app’ing this particular version of your character again —

Maybe you were minding your own business, planning for the future as you finally reached civilization and met a lot of wonderful people. Maybe even you were thinking about ways for you to save your homeworld, ways to fight Palitutu, Garland and the Calamity. But unfortunately you will not be able to do any of these things, for a terrible fate awaits these Heroes of Light who were awakened by Kalki all these months ago.

At any time during the day, it could strike any of newly arrived Heroes of Light. At first it will start with a terrible, agonizing pain that will surge throughout their bodies—Nearly unbearable, as if they were dying. After mere seconds the pain will subside, but then they will feel life itself leaving their bodies. There would be a little bit of time for the Heroes of Light to speak final words to their friends, but only seconds to a minute at best before death catches up with them

And upon dying, the crystals of dead Heroes of Light will shatter and their bodies will remain, not crystallizing. All the Heroes of Light in Crystallis will feel a sharp pain as this happens—But the pain will grow lesser and lesser with each subsequent death, until it’ll become nothing more than a tingle.

MELODIES OF ETERNITY
— This option will have the characters crystallize and disappear, meaning they can still be app’d at some point in the future —

And because many of the newly arrived Heroes of Light, maybe you assumed you would as well—But maybe you wouldn’t. Not all of the Heroes of Light who reached Mysidia this past week were meet with such a terrible fate. Some will fall in Crystal Stasis instead. It was a state that had immobilized and taken away countless Heroes of Light before, but maybe this was better than death?

Like those who died, they will feel a terrible pain surging throughout their bodies. But rather than fading, the pain will remain as their bodies slowly crystallize. They will have the time for a farewell to their friends, but their time is limited to nothing more than mere seconds.

And only instants after their bodies fully crystallized, they will vanish, nowhere to be found.

MELODIES OF LIFE
— This option is for character being app’d and then accepted into the game —

Or maybe nothing will happen to you. But unfortunately, you can see everyone around you dying of crystallizing, and assume the same fate awaits you.

But why? Why it this happening to everyone on the same day, just after the two groups of Heroes of Light finally reunited? Surely this cannot be a coincidence…

"Wh-what?"

He looked confused, almost dazed for a second whens he asked him that question but quickly shook it off when he realized what she was asking and why. His face probably looked like he was in some sort of pain but nothing compared to the deaths he was seeing across the field. He was shook up but needless to say, death was something he was adjusting to since his days traveling with Sorey and watching many people suffer and die. Sometimes, they couldn't even save people. This was a very similar yet different situation all together.

"Only for a moment. What about you?" he mused giving her a worried gaze, "Have you noticed that some of the people traveling with us have suffered from something strange?"

He mused after another moment of silence. Her appearance was the least of his worries, seeing he was more concerned with her well being.

"I have." It was impossible not to notice. Some turned to crystal, and those she left alone. Others screamed in agony as they died. To those poor souls, she lent them a hand to end their suffering quickly.

But the soft-hearted seraph didn't need to know that, if he hadn't guessed already.

"I'm fine," she remarked calmly, relaxing her stance once he told her that he wasn't experiencing any sharp pains himself. She didn't particularly relish any of the deaths she'd seen, but she would have found Mikleo's passing somewhat distasteful. "The source of their distress has yet to be uncovered. I've seen nothing out of the ordinary." She folded her arms with a frown. "There's a possibility either of us may succumb before the day is through. Are you prepared for this?"

"I'm not sure I am, however, it isn't uncommon. I was prepared for death a long time ago."

He replied crossing his arms. The thought didn't actually leave his mind, though. He really hated not being able to do what he usually could to protect those he cared about. It was saddening to watch people suffer and die relentlessly, knowing there was little he could do to stop it. He never felt so powerless before.

It was definitely painful to watch the whole ordeal as he crossed his arms. He was trying to stop himself from losing his cool. He didn't want to lose his composure when there were more people at a panic than he was.

"I want to know what the source is for what reason it started getting those who have been traveling with us."

So he was unafraid to die, but wasn't prepared to see other people lose their lives. Such a concept was so completely mystifying to her. Why did he consistently rank himself so much lower than everyone else? Was it simply a lack of confidence?

Lust studied him in silence for a long moment after he finished speaking, weighing the options before her very carefully. She wasn't about to kill him to save him the fear and pain of what might be an inevitable death, because there was no guarantee that either of them would die. It was just a possibility at this point.

"I suggest you go inside somewhere, lock the door, and shutter the window," Lust advised coolly. "When this is finished, if both of us are still standing, I'll tell you what I find out." She took a single breath. "There is no need for you to watch others suffer, if it will bring you nothing but pain."

It's more like he hadn't fully mentally adjust to it again. He's well aware of people dying and being unable to do anything to help them. That was a common occurrence when he was aiding the Shepherd in stopping the Lord of Calamity after all. It's not something he'd openly talk about in the first place, however, since there had been a lot of missing pieces since then.

Mikleo didn't say anymore for the time being and waited for her to speak. What else could he say? He did answer her question after all. There wasn't any way of wording it any nicer. There was no guarantee but he would like to think that they both would survive this somehow. He wanted to hope and not be hopeless.

His eyes went big when she said those words to him. Did she really think he was going to sit idly by while people were suffering? Even if he couldn't stomach it all, Mikleo was definitely going to do what he could to help people.

"That's something I can't do."

He replied firmly as his eyes narrowed, "You know very well as I do that I'm not the type to sit idly by while people are fighting for their lives. I didn't come here to see all of this to be a burden you know?"

It's almost exactly the same words that he told Sorey when the other forced him to not participate in his journey as a Shepherd.

Lust's expression didn't change as she regarded him silently; not even a bat of an eyelash. Finally she shifted her weight to the other hip, folding her arms.

"Very well," she told him flatly. "So you know what you can't do. Now enlighten me as to what it is you think you can do."

There was no way to save these people. Didn't he know this, or was he too optimistically ignorant to realize that they would die no matter what he did? Either he could stand there and watch, or put them out of their misery the way she'd been doing whenever she found someone writhing in agony on the ground.

"What I can. At least, give them peace before they pass on, or be with them so they aren't alone."

He replied giving her a serious hardened gaze. He was extremely stubborn when it came to things he wanted to do. No matter what, he was certain there was something he could to help someone somewhere, somehow. There was no saving them, and he was certain of that. Watching them fall made him realize that.

Lust's gaze was hard, almost suspicious as she listened to his reply. Then, slowly, her frown eased, and she took a half step to the side to grant him silent permission to pass her by.

"If that is your wish. Just so long as you don't sacrifice your own sanity on those who do not need it. I will think less of you if you behave foolishly."

Whether he passed her by or not, she was moving again and striding past him. It was best if they worked separately in this regard. Their goals were the same, but their methods couldn't be more different.

"I've seen much than this."

In fact, he didn't want to admit but this was a minor case compared to the things he had seen. Of course, that's something he's not going to openly state to Lust of all people right now. He's too emotionally charged. For the time being, he's trying to calm down and figure out the best route to take in the whole ordeal.

"I won't think foolishly. You have my word on that, Lust."

He replied giving her a serious gaze before moving past her and down the city streets. It seemed like this was the best for the both of them.
