"I must have had other things on my mind, at the time."
It was true enough. Sephiroth had been enlightened with his own sense of entitlement and as a result had seen all of the others involved as if he were on a pedestal above them. Yes, he had noticed Genesis' -or what he assumed had to be the man- having morphed into a large armored being with a huge sword to match but really his attention had been mostly focused on preventing the Heroes who had shown up from stopping the ritual. Ah, that ritual and how it would have shown them all. As thoughts turned that way there was no way that Sephiroth could hide the first creepings of a scowl. The bitterness of failure still lingered heavily, added to his guilt.
As for Angeal, Sephiroth had been bed bound by way of the killer man-flu at the time - on the last legs of his life. He hadn't been well enough at all to consider what might have happened to his friend in his absence and Genesis hadn't even seemed to even care since their encounter in the woods.
"Yes, I imagine he would say something along those lines." Not that Angeal had, nor would he -Sephiroth imagined- given as they were both still trying to resolve all of the stirred issues within themselves. Sephiroth didn't really agree with Genesis' suggestion either, as evident by the deepening scowl that he were trying to push away.
"I could concede on your first point, for sure the Mako-infusion is a 'potential' here. Though almost too much to handle at once, I felt like I'd turned a corner. For the first time, all of this-" He gestured around but only with a cant of his head and a quick shrug, indicating the world around. "-felt really real."
Sephiroth dragged his gaze, still on the floor, over to the corner where the bookshelves met the floor. Eyebrows crunched together while he thought, with his face as turned as away from Genesis as he could make it - considering his hairstyle did a very good job of hiding his expression away.
"The definition of a Hero is only as far as that particular scope goes."
