Event || Cluedo

Characters: Investigators and their witnesses.
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: 15th June - 30th June.
Summary: Catch-all log for the Cluedo Event. If you would like to pursue investigations and play out the fall-out of the Cluedo events, this is the post for you. Please refer to the second OOC Post for the setting and what there is to be played. Another Log will be posted at a later date to play the murders.

"And I don't use ice magic - I haven't even bothered to equip my old Red Mage job in ages!" Twilight said. "Though, this just gets curiouser and curiouser..."

Thanks for the details. Sorry this had to happen. [An apology, from Sparks Nevada? Believe it.]

If you can stop into the station to talk about this, that would be better than over letters. I don't really trust mognet with this sort of information.

"I don't have magic either, so that's out," said Adventurer. "If only there was a way to make this more easier."

"Hmm, I do not think you look silly at the moment..." she tapped her finger on her chin trying to figure out what to do next. Mayhap...

"Why don't we look at the clues together then? I may not be much of assistance but I would like to try to help. And besides, two is better than one."

Anybody other than the Marshall, and Jack might have insisted to keep this over letters, but there he is, walking into the Station, and asking for Nevada, himself. He is waiting for him in an interview room, eyeing a cup of the Station's coffee distrustfully.

"It's funny," he mentions. "Not used to anybody making this much fuss over me dying. But if it's part of a serial killing? Then let's see what we've got. What do you need?"

[One very exhausted Sparks is on the scene, as he's been working around the clock on the murders, keeping curfew in check and getting Heroes escorted at night. This long after the crime, there's not much left to the scene, but Sparks is back to check anyway. Speaking with locals about anything they might have seen or heard, looking around for any evidence that might have been overlooked.

When Santa shows on the scene, he raises an eyebrow, recognizing him as one of the victims. He wishes he had an answer for what happened, but work was still being doing.]

Hey. You, uh, feelin' okay?

[What do you say to someone who's been murdered but is back to life now?]

"I think that would be the best thing to do." Twilight said. "So, so far we know that Jade was stabbed and had a Limit Break used on him and apparently Jack was actually kicked off the roof. But, the citizens that were discovered were do in differently. The one near Jade was actually cold and wet and the more recent ones were struck with rocks."

"I agree. It's not like the answer's going to come out and slap us in the face." Twilight joked.

I didn't think about that. About being afraid of heights or something.

This was official police business, something he couldn't trust over letters. Not with the culprits still at large.

Sparks has his own cup of coffee, which is the only thing keeping him running lately. He's been working nearly nonstop since this whole mess started, sleeping at the station in short bursts here and there. He rubbed at his eyes.

"Reckon I make a fuss over anyone gettin' murdered, no matter who it is, Jack. Y'know, bein' my job and all. And in this case, it was you, 'n Jade, Santa, Reno, Rukia, Malik. Plus two citizens who aren't even Heroes. Unlike us, they don't get to come back. So yeah, a fuss is what I'm kickin' up."

He lets out a cleansing sigh and takes a long sip of coffee.

"The person who approached you on the roof. Did they say anythin' else to you before they pushed ya? Were they male or female?"

Which is weird, because who wants to throw me off a rooftop bad enough to go up and face a fear to do it? Can't think of anybody, not in the ranks of the Heroes.

Unless, for some reason they didn't have a choice.

Couple of times, I've lost my life at the hands of friends, and it was usually because they were under something else's control. Either flat-out mind manipulation, class A Weird Shit, or extreme pressure of another kind. The kind where they might lose their life, instead.

Either way, I think there's somebody really scared out there right now.

[Santa raises an eyebrow at Sparks. He's got a rebellious streak a mile wide and he's really not feeling cooperative today.]

Been better. Getting murdered is a real pain in the neck.

Jack's jaw tightens and he frowns sharply. There's a slight twitch at the name of his former housemate, Rukia. "Shit. I saw Kurashiki, right before it happened. He was with Kidd, so at least I can tell you neither one of them killed me. But he was the next person to turn up dead?"

Right. Question. Focus. "No, nothing else. Just my name, grabbing my attention so I'd start to turn around, then," Jack snaps his fingers. "Over I went." He closes his eyes for a second, like he's trying to focus and remember. "I couldn't- tell you a gender. It's-"

Okay. Sparks, he's gotta tell about this. He leans in a little closer. "Did anybody else report anything strange about coming back this time? Jade or Kurashiki? It's probably just me," Jack holds out a hand. "So don't take this as hard evidence. But did they say anything weird?"

Hang on, this isn't coming across really well, one sec, you're still at A-03, right?

Jack doesn't really wait for a response before showing up at Duster's house. He does sneak around to the side of the house to wave hello to Mercury. He's always tried to treat the horse fairly.

Jack knocks on the door, then raises a hand in greeting.

"Gotta be a little nice, betting you have this place mostly to yourself right now?" Referring to the Marshall's absence.

Duster arrives at the door, looking a bit ragged, but mostly fine. The murders had shaken him up, but now that the victims were back, they could find the Heroes that did such a terrible thing. Betrayed from within...

"Yeah, Sparks is out all night doing work. I'm not much of an investigator, so I'm staying home." Duster swings the door open, sidestepping away from the entrance. "I'm usually out on walks or playing at local bars, anyway."

There's still plenty of sun left in the sky, but Jack shrugs as he enters. "I hear we're on curfew anyway. So much for that."

He takes a quick look around the place, he'll admit to being curious about how the Marshall keeps his place. "What I meant in my letter. Either it's one of us, or it's somebody going to a lot of trouble to make it look like us. What I meant by a fake. I don't think anyone can, say, duplicate our powers. Which is what it might've sounded like I was thinking."

Jack takes a seat at the dining table and looks up at Duster sympathetically. "I know not everybody's used to this shit."

"Duplicate our powers...?" Duster shakes his head. "What do you mean? I haven't gone out to the crime scenes at all."

Was Jack referring to the whole event, or just his murder?

"Did we prove that it's the Heroes doing this?"

That is strange. Putting her hands on her hips, Minfilia lightly tapped her foot in thought. "Tis like whoever did this wished to keep it silent. But why are the natives' deaths different from anyone not of this star? Were they only spectators or added in as a second thought to throw the scent off?"

Mmm, okay. Take it a step at a time for the newbie. Jack smiles a little, and intentionally slows his thoughts down. "The first person they killed was one of the strongest among us, Jade Curtis. Ignoring for a second that you'd need to be a hero to take him out? Evidence pointed to the use of ice magic. May-be water," Jack waves a hand back and forth, "but there's more high level ice spells than there are water spells."

"Then there's me and Kurashiki. If the same person took the two of us out, they were displaying a much wider array of skills. You'd need agility and some strength to get to where I was and knock me off, while someone seemed to have overpowered Kurashiki."

"And then these new ones came in. Rukia. Reno. I hear the name of the third one was Malik. Either pointing to massive strength or a different way to move objects, like teleportation. Things that are this varied? It's got to be a Hero."

"Probably not. But there's so many people working on this situation, people are practically tripping over one another," said Meteor with a wry grin.

I can imagine. I... Sorry. That ya had to go through that.

[It's a tough thing for Sparks to say, especially since he doesn't even really know Santa. But as an officer of the law, he feels as if he's failed those who got murdered.]

We're workin' on it. Got a lotta clues. If'n yer willing to talk about it sometime, we can do so at the station. Not out here.

"...they just might be." Twilight mused, bringing a wing to her chin in thought. "Or maybe the Hero deaths are the scent that's being used to throw us off." And, that's when Twilight's eyes went wide.

"You're right. This is so confusing." Twilight uttered, sighing in annoyance.

If I gotta...but I can tell you right now, I didn't see who did it.

[He wants to tell the officer to go screw himself, but that's just his natural reaction to police. And there is one thing he wants to make sure Sparks knows.]

I know Kidd was around for the first and second murders, but she didn't do it. I was talkin' to her when it started raining men. Just so you know.

Sparks thought it over for a second, but shook his head.

"'Anythin' weird'? No, don't think so. But I'm definitely gonna ask now. Why, what happened?"

Anything could be a clue at this point.
