[Akane still stands there, her head turned to gaze out at a winding street lined with flower gardens on windows and crates stacked high next to the back door of several shops. She seems deep in thought, and there's an odd hardness to her features that only her brother would recognize. It was the same expression she'd had when she'd been setting up the camera and video screens in the captain's quarters, knowing they weren't going to be used, but making the option available just the same in the vain hope that her clairvoyance was wrong.]
[A dog barks close to where Santa's standing, and Akane blinks, brought out of her reverie to turn toward the sound. Then her eyes track immediately to Santa.]
[She rocks visibly in place, her hand coming up to her chest with a small gasp in her throat, and her eyes are wide. The surprise on her face melts to warmth, and in a heartbeat, she's crossed the distance between them with long, frantic strides. She bolts straight for him, arms outstretched. When she crashes into him with a fierce hug, there's a broken little bleat of relief, and she clings to him as if he might fade away without her there to anchor him.]
