Jade nodded briefly at Sephiroth before turning back to answer Ellie's question.

"They were most likely killed after me. The culprit couldn't have ambushed me if they'd attacked someone else first."

Admittedly he hadn't been looking around that closely prior to the attack, but he was nevertheless confident he would have noticed if someone had gone after civilians right under his nose.
