Battle on the Big Bridge...?

Who: Jack, Tazendra, Sheena, Lydia, Sparks, and anyone else they can convince to help them with a Regain Quest.
What: An epic battle to last the ages...sort of.

Reports of a brigand blocking the way to the Mythril Mines have sent a group of the Heroes on a quest to the Big Bridge that connects the Continent of Balance to the Lost Continent. Jack frowns as he looks down the expanse of the bridge. Perfect spot for an ambush of some kind. Odd, though, that the mission report on this only mentioned a brigand. Maybe all it takes is one guy to cut off traffic at a narrow point, though. Jack shoulders his custom spear, Ddraig Goch, and takes point onto the bridge.

Kidd was about as thrilled to be fighting a dog as anyone else on this bridge, and while she found Lydia's attempt to calm the beast commendable, the fact that it was now lunging for Tazendra told her two things. First, that it was smart enough to understand what they were saying. And second, that it was fiercely loyal to its master, regardless of the situation that his foolishness had left him in.

Summoning a clone of her own to assist, she ran to Lydia's side, ready to intercept an attack if one was turned on her next.

"Careful there. Seems like it wants to do this, even if it doesn't have to. Don't want a little one like you getting gobbled up. "

Well, Tazendra came to the conclusion that the beast was intelligent enough to react to an insult, which was fair enough. If someone had insulted her liege-lord or empress, she'd act likewise (albeit with verbally giving a challenge first). She managed to dodge the bite but was caught in the shockwave. Given her natural spellcasting made heavy armor impractical, that left a mark.

Lydia seemed to be trying something, but Tazendra decided to act and followed up with a THundara spell.

Enkidu turns to look at Lydia, the hypnotic eyes of the Vampire class gain his full attention, and for an instant, it looks like that might have worked.

The next instant, he is bristling, and leaning down, barking against the force of two Blizzaras and a Thundara crashing against his sides. He stamps one paw, and throws his head up, but instead of a deep baying howl, this time he emits an Eerie Soundwave. A high-pitched area of effect attack that will do non-elemental damage in a circle around him. It has a low potential to cause Confuse, but the Clones are obviously immune to this problem.

A hand goes to Jack's head, but he is able to shake the effect off. His ears are still ringing, but he still knows which way is up: the direction he is headed in with another Jump.

It wasn't just the Clones that had avoided becoming Confused, but Sheena as well. How, she had no clue, but she isn't about to waste the opportunity. Head still spinning from the soundwave, she and her Clone charge forward from each side, brandishing their swords.

When they reach the beast, they hit with Excalibur on each front leg. The non-elemental attack is halved, but Sheena's counting on the fact that it's coming in from both sides to be effective.

Mary's clone leaped in front of Lydia as Enkidu let out that howl, trying to absorb the attack for the young one. However the pirate herself found herself rooted on the spot. She clutched her forehead, dizzy and disoriented. She'd been known to drink, as a pirate is wont to do, but this felt like the sort of drunk she wanted to avoid. That she chided others for reaching.

She couldn't tell where her opponent was. She just knew she had to keep Lydia safe.

There was movement out of the corner of her eye, and out of instinct she lunged at it, springing her hidden blade as she thrust it forward.

It's hard to aim with your head ringing like that, but Sparks manages. Before he fires off a Venomous Shot, he casts River of Blood so that his arrows cause double damage. That and the poison from the shot he takes makes him confident he can help take this thing down before it does another one of those sound attacks.
