"Twilight is right. It's not about just our own worlds or all the people on them. Or even all the people on Crystallis now. If we do what Palitutu wanted, it won't solve the problem with the Calamity, just pass it off to the next set of Heroes for them to solve. That just means you need to sacrifice more and more just to stay in one place. Delaying a problem that big never solves it. The Calamity isn't going to stop on its own."
That had been Roku's regret on his own world: leaving the Fire Nation for Aang, a child, to solve. It had worked out, but Aang had seen what 100 years of war had done to his world, and knew he was spending the rest of his life fixing the damage.
Aang wasn't sure if they could stop the Calamity. Palitutu was a person who could make choices, even if they were bad ones. But the Calamity seemed almost like a force of nature. Even the Avatar couldn't stop a force of nature... but they could understand it and work with what it wanted. And Palitutu and Kalki had both tried to understand what the Calamity was.
He glanced back at Palitutu. "Does she have any family or something? Someone who would like to know about... what happened?" He was so frustrated at Palitutu, but... she was still a person. And he wished they could have found another way: maybe with the same tricks she had to disable them.
