If anything, Vincent was keeping a very tight rein on any hints of temper. Not that he didn't expect Sephiroth to attempt lashing out while in pain. It was a common and human reaction.

"Is this to be the catalyst, in this time and place, to deciding you will burn your bridges?" A deliberate question--alluding to, but not directly mentioning what had happened on Gaia. But asking Sephiroth his decision--giving him the choice to follow that path, or not. No judgement yet, either, in Vincent's tone. Only curiosity.
