All alone in the world.

Characters: Fai D. Flourite & Open
Where: Aqures Ixen
When: 1st December
Summary: Fai's friend has gone into status so after visiting him in the hospital, Fai heads out to drink and take his mind off being alone.
Warning: None as of yet.

It was odd being all alone without the other there, but here he was leaving the hospital all by himself. It was a really odd feeling. Some years ago this would have been rather satisfying and he would have welcomed it because then he could have been the person he thought he was. But here... Being alone just didn't feel right and he didn't like it one bit.

Scratching behind his head, he walked on, unsure of what to do as his moogle just floated quietly next to him. He knew the other was upset and he just simply had no idea of what to do. It wasn't long before Fai found himself outside a bar and wondering if he should just step in and spend the day just simply drinking it away. It would help take his mind of things after all.

That's what he wanted, at least for now. He could confront being alone later. Looking up at the sign, he sighed still wondering if that would be a good idea or not.

Yuna recognized the look in his eye as she past him on the street. Celes was going on about Blitzball and she silenced him with a wave as she watched Fai walk towards his destination. It took some navigating to get across the street but she slowly made her way towards him, following him to the entrance of the bar.

She stepped lightly when she approached. "Are you alright?"

He turned his head slightly when Yuna approached, giving a small but somewhat faked smile. He wasn't even trying to fake it and he wouldn't have any more.

"Before I would have lied and said I was, but... I guess when you arrive with someone you know and they get turned to crystal... I guess that effects me more than I figured."

He was answering truthfully and he couldn't help but admit to himself he was a little upset. He was alone after all and he hadn't been for a while. It was strange.

Yuna knew the feeling of lose but she has known that feeling her whole life. She's lived with it and its almost just a part of who she was now. Her eyes fall to the floor as she thinks through her words carefully. She knew that there was nothing she could say to help. Nothing she could say to ease the pain.

She glanced back up with a sad smile. "Maybe I can keep you company? I know it isn't the same but, no one should be alone."

"I would like that." He wouldn't be the same, he knew that but he couldn't help but want some company right now. After all when he lost those he cared about there was always someone there afterwards and it helped a little bit.

However he didn't think of what they could do. Being at a bar is all well and good for him, but it might not be the same for the other. "Do you just want to walk around right now?"

"I'm good with anything to be honest." She gestured to the bar with a smile. "They have decent drinks here."

Yuna has seen people drink away there sorrows time and time again. She never faulted those who did and a few times she has a drink when she needed time to think.

She took a small step closer with a small smile. "What would you like to do?"

Decent drinks... that really was something he wanted right now and it seemed like she didn't care what she did. So he figured he might as well as he walked to the door.

"We'll have one drink and then do something else." He could honestly just drink the whole day away and not have it effect him as much as he would like it to right now.

As he reached the door though, he made sure to keep it open so the other could walk through first. "Ladies first."

She stepped through and then bee lined for the counter. "Let me treat you."

Yuna turned to the bartender and ordered her drink. She then turned towards Fai and pointed. "Plus what he wants as well."

He opened his mouth slightly about to say that he was willing to pay when she was already speaking to the barman. Well he made sure to make a note to pay for the next one or pay for whatever they would do next.

So for now he closes his mouth slightly. he had been here enough for the bar tender to at least figure out who he was, so when he asked for the usual the guy knew what to do.

"I'll pay for the next one after this. I'd feel bad otherwise." He said giving a small chuckle as the drinks were seen sorted and given.

"It's really alright. I have a job and besides furniture I don't have any outstanding expenses."

Yuna handed him the drink and then took a seat by his side. She wasn't going to bring up what was wrong unless he wanted to talk about it and for the moment she was happy to sit in silence.

He swirled the drink in his hand quietly. he didn't know what to say or do honestly. She didn't seem to mind and it saved him money, but he didn't really have much need to save it in this world. Unless it was to buy a new weapon, or more arrows when needed. Even armour cost a bit.

Taking a sip of the drink, he wondered what they should talk about instead of being in this awkward silence.

"What is your job anyway?" It was the best thing to talk about to begin with anyway. Better than nothing.

"Oh, I'm a Bliztball player." Her smile widened at the thought, she had always loved the sport and played at home but she hadn't thought that it would be something she would do here.

"It's a lot of fun." Yuna tilted her head to the side as she glides her finger around the rim of her glass. "Have you seen the sport played yet?"

"That's the sport where the people are underwater right?" he asked looking over at her. He had seen a game once when he first arrived and he always wondered how they managed to do that. It was interesting.

"Once, when I first arrived. It was certainly an interesting sport." he had even considered trying it out at least once some day, but for now he had other things.

"I guess when you play I can come cheer you on."

"I'd like that. Right now I'm just on reserves but pretty soon I'll be part of the regular roster." She smiled brightly at the thought of others coming to see her play. It would be so much fun! Everyone all watching the game, even as light fades into night and then after the game they could go out and celebrate the time they have with friends.

Even as she thinks about it, it feels like a dream. Her finger tapped on her glass and then she took a swing of the amber liquid. "It is a lot of fun."

"Well that's good. I mean it means you get to play soon and won't always be on the bench." He had managed to take a long sip of his drink after the sentence as he paused to think about things. Like his own job. It worked for him because he was a Chocobo Knight so spending all that time with chocobo's helped him understand them.

Yet at the same time he had felt like the job could get a little boring. "So long as you have fun, that's all that matters." With the next swig he had finished his own drink for now.

She continued to sip her drink, noticing that he was already finished him. She was drinking slower and decided to pick up her pace. A tentative smile slipped over her lips.

"It is fun. I can't wait." Yuna pointed at his empty glass. "Would you like another?"

He gave a small smile. he did notice she was trying to keep up and felt like he should really warn her not to such a thing for good enough reason.

"I would, but you don't have to rush to drink yours if you don't want to." He really didn't want to see the consequences of what would happen if she did keep it up.

Yuna was able to hold her alcohol pretty well but there really was no way of knowing how this might affect her. She shook her head and smiled at his words.

"I wouldn't be a very good drinking buddy if I didn't try, right? Besides. I know my limits." She sort of knew her limits but she certainly sounds confident enough. She finished her glass and then waved to the bartender for another round.

She at least knew her limit. Fai couldn't help but give a small chuckle at that. "I guess that is true, but at least that means we have a limit to what we can do for now anyway. I mean odds are I could drink more than you."

He leant back slightly, looking over at some of the other people who were around. There were quite a few people around here so he wondered how many of them were drinking away problems they might have.

"That sounds like a challenge." Yuna was many things stubborn, willful and foolhardy at times. One thing she also enjoyed was a challenge.

The bartender came over with another round and she flashed him a dazzling smile before paying for the drinks and thanking him. She then turned back to Fai her fingers wrapping around the glass.

"So, you up for it?" She could have maybe 4 beers before she felt tipsy but she hasn't ever pushed herself after that.

"It isn't much of a challenge when I know I don't have a limit." He said holding his glass and holding it close to his lips. While he was curious to the limit, he knew he'd have to either act out being drunk, which was kind of easy enough for him or just pretend like it doesn't effect him, which it doesn't.

"But if you really want to take on the challenge, I can;t say no to a lady."

"Why is that?" Yuna thought that people could only hold so much liquor because of powers or abilities. It was interesting to hear that this wasn't the case and she couldn't help but get a little excited at this idea. "Okay then show me!"

She pushed his glass forward and then began to down her own.

She wanted to know why? He couldn't help but thing it was a little odd. He just didn't understand why people would get so excited over what he just said. It might baffle him for some time.

But never the less he knew he might as well drink. Not like he had anything to do back home or anything. He didn't even want to go back right now. back to a house that was empty and quiet.

"Alight, but don't say I didn't warn you, okay?" He said with a small grin taking a big sip of his own before looking at the glass. It was almost empty already. he shouldn't really drink it like sake.

Yuna smiled at him. "I've never been very good at heading warnings." Though she at least knew that she had the tendency to go a little over board with things. Her cheeks began to color a rosy hue as she ordered a third round.

She didn't seem like she was going to let up though it was clear the alcohol was already starting to affect her.

"Why don't we play a game while we drink?"

Fai could tell the signs of someone when they started to get tipsy at least, although when it came to Sakura and Syaoran in Oto that one time what happened t them was something else. Would have been more amusing if he at the time wasn't drunk himself.

"What kind of game may I ask?" Fai said as he looked at the now empty glass. He figured he'd take the next one slower when he could.

Yuna shrugged. "I honestly don't know. Someone I once knew told me about drinking games. I guess I was curious to see if you knew any."

They weren't exactly what she was thinking but she thought she would ask anyway. She waved another hand at the bartender beckoning him over with a friendly smile.

He gave a small laugh. "No I don't know of any. I just can drink a lot when I feel like it." He knew he could do that as he could recall when he would prefer the sweet taste of it over food any day, but he found that wasn't so much the case any more.

Once the guy was over Fai decided t go with something else to drink, knowing that it wouldn't be as alcoholic as the last drink he had.

Yuna leaned over curiously looking up at Fai. "What are you getting?" She only really knew of one drink here that was good but then after she found it she didn't really try anything else.

Her cheeks were flushed brightly from the effects of the alcohol though she hasn't yet started to slur her words together.

"Something new and not even I had before." He wasn't even sure what he was ordering. he just felt like getting something he figured he could try while he was here.

"I think you'll be finishing soon yourself. You look like you've nearly had enough anyway."

"You think so?" She looked down at the amber liquid curiously feeling the room shift slightly as she moved. It was a strange feeling, it was as if she was numb but could still feel everything so acutely.

"Maybe.. one more?" Yuna finished her beer and set it on the counter with a smile. She looked a little spaced out though other than that there was no indication that she might be inebriated.

He wasn't sure if he should let her have that one more, but at the same time she seemed pretty determined to have another drink. But that could just be him over thinking things.

"I think you've had enough. I should maybe think about taking you home."

"But.." She looked over at him with rosy cheeks and a soft pout. "You were the one feeling sad.. You don't need to worry about me."

Yuna didn't want to put him out besides that she felt fine, at least for the moment. She swung her legs around and stood only to waver slightly and reach out for purchase.

"I'm dizzy.."

"Feeling sad is a normal thing, you don't have to go overboard to be able to make someone feel better. Getting drunk or tipsy might not help." He said only just noticing that maybe he had been showing signs of worrying. He figured that was probably a good thing at least.

Knowing she really was at her limit Fai stood up and went to wrap an arm around her shoulder. "That is normal when one is tipsy. I'll help you home."

Yuna looked up at him with a pout. "..But I don't want my friends to be sad." She couldn't say when she started to consider Fai a friend but she did and she wanted to see him smiling with everyone else. A world filled with laughter.

She tried to walk knowing that it wouldn't do much good without someone steadying her. There was so much going through her head and she couldn't stop the words from spilling from her mouth as she stumbled in the rough direction of her house. "I think I feel bad too.. not because people are gone but because I wish I was."

Celes just floats behind making sure that she doesn't get lost.

That was enough to give him a small smile, but at the same time it makes him worry. If his friend could leave then who knows when any friend would leave. He at least started to care more for people now, but here... he was wondering if that was a good idea. But then again he made friends in other worlds so how is this any different.

Before he had time to speak she had spoken again and that was enough to cause him to frown slightly. That was a way he had felt before because of what he had experienced and seen. He didn't like the fact that someone wished they weren't here.

"Why do you wish you were gone?" he asked wanting to see if he can help while helping her walk.

Yuna looked up at Fai her gaze a little distant and for the moment she stopped walking. It was harder somehow to stand up right when she was still than it was when she was walking but she manged with Celes floating nervously nearby. The little moogle wasn't used to his hero opening up and he was obviously alarmed by Yuna's words.

"Because it would be easier for everyone else.. Technically I should have died three years ago."

It felt as if she was only buying her time as if some curl fate kept her around so that she could lose those close to her again and again. She felt tears at the corner of her eyes but she quickly wiped them away. Yuna was suppose to be helping Fai not the other way around.

Fai couldn't help but look away. This was quite a touchy subject for him. Considering his past; He could understand how she felt. He really did, so he at least knew what one had to say. But he made sure to not do exactly as his friend would have done.

"It's not easier for people." He said with a small laugh, it was faked for once but at the same time he wasn't trying to pretend it was okay because it wasn't. "Believe me, having that feeling of knowing you were meant to die is never a good thing, but I will say the same thing a good friend of mine might say." He knew they weren't walking right now so he moved, hand still on her should while he moved to the front of her.

"You are an idiot for saying that, but if you still feel like that much further down the line... Then I'm sure someone could make it a reality, but until that time you have to live and be there for the friends you have here and for those that care for you." he felt weird saying it himself, but he was serious about it.

Yuna looked up at Fai forcing back the tears that brimmed to the corner of her eyes. It was ironic really. She had always had such strength but lately she felt as if it was stolen from her and given to someone else in her stead. Her gaze cleared and she tried her best to smile through her sorrow mirroring Fai's attempts at a grin.

"Thank you." She wiped at her eyes just to make sure that no tears had fallen. "You know, I was suppose to be the one cheering you up."

She felt her heart sink but then right now there was nothing she could do about it. Her world had crumbled and the moment she had started building it up again it was pulled from her. She wanted to find her footing again and be strong but she had to find out who she was again. Then seeing herself here just man it harder.

He wished he at least had some tissues on him to give to her, but he didn't have a single thing except money. So removing his hand his smile faded.

"Yeah, but I do feel a little better and I doubt drinking was actually going to fully work anyway, so don't feel like you didn't do what you set out to do."

He moved to stand next to her once more, looking around while trying to figure out where the other lived so he could get her home for the moment.

"I'm glad, that you feel a little better then."

Her foot steps were light as she walked towards her home. Celes leading the way with his little paws holding one of her hands. She almost falls a few times stopped either by leaning on Fai or Celes trying to pull her up. Everything is just a blur for the ex sphere hunter as she travels with her two friends through the streets.

Fai made sure to keep her as sturdy as possible until they finally reached her door. He couldn't help but feel a little relieved that they made it back without incident.

"Okay, here we are. Back and safe. I shall leave you to the capable hands of your moogle." Because anything after this was something he didn't quite think he should be helping with. But he gives a small wave before turning his head and starts to head off.

Yuna gave him a smile as Celes opened the door and guided her within the warm walls of her home. She turned once watching Fai leave wishing that she could have done more to help the hero. Though come the next morning she will wonder exactly what she might have divulged to the man.
