neverfirstclass: (What gives you the right)

I'M SORRY! I COULD HAVE SWORN I TAGGED THIS!

[Cloud's eyes shine with hope. This isn't a long term answer, let alone the ultimate one, but it's good to see people reaching out to Sephiroth. And for a brief moment he thinks that they'll be taking a step forward.

But then the Silver Elite dashes that hope. And it's not his rejection, but the answer itself that makes Cloud frown. He's ready to answer even before Levy cues him. Sorry friend, he's playing bad cop here.

Commit to what?

[His tone cuts cold, not holding back as it flies at Sephiroth's excuse.]

She just said you didn't have to quit Esdham over this. And you know as well as I that the Chocobo farm keeps me busy when Hero stuff doesn't. I help out around here when I can make time but sometimes it's months apart.

[He pauses as his mind catches up to his mouth. He takes a deep breath and then sighs as he looks away.]

Freedom. You're free to do as you like. You're even free to say no. And maybe I'm going against what Fairy Tail stands for, but I think I at least have a right to ask you why.

[His gaze shoots back to Sephiroth, cold and hard.]

Someone is holding out their hand to you, offering friendship and help without terms. It's yours to accept when you want it or need it. You're being offered a place to belong. Not because I'm here, but because we're all watching out for each other and trying to help out in this world in whatever way we can. Because we're Heroes. Because we're friends. Because we're people in this world.

What is it, exactly, that you can't 'commit' to?
