Rukia fell quiet. He was right. If anything, she needed the help more often than he did, and Repede was an excellent companion to watch his back. She was being uncharacteristically fussy, even clingy. What was wrong with her?

Dropping to sit on the edge of the bed, she pried off her boots and set them neatly on the floor. "We'll be able to cover more of the city and rest more easily if we split up the times we patrol. You have your communicator, so contact me if a situation arises that requires my assistance. Tomorrow we can work up a schedule and a map."
