'Fond' was a severe understatement. There was a reason she'd got along so well with Ray Stantz during the brief time he'd been a part of Crystallis.

"No, it wouldn't surprise me either," Rukia remarked thoughtfully. "I'm not entirely certain how this world's cycle of life and death compares to the one I'm more familiar with, but we do know that the restless souls of the departed do appear under certain circumstances." What those circumstances were, she didn't know, nor was she aware what made some spirits harmless, and what made some of them manifest as Shifters or Poes.

She shrugged her pack off of her back and rolled her shoulders, massaging her fingers over the nape of her neck. She liked the proton pack, but it was heavy and unwieldy. A good night's rest would see her right.

"You have theories?" Rukia said, more a statement than a question. She knew he did. Jade was clever, able to keep two steps ahead of most of their enemies. It was a quality she envied. Rukia was no simpleton, but she wasn't quite near Jade's level of sharp intuition. Whether he did or not, she was already moving to the kitchen to boil some water and begin fixing their humble supper.
