He couldn't carelessly leap into the scene to save her right then and there but he knew that he had to do something to save her.
The only choice really was to dismember the beast so that it would drop her. If he got too close, he might end up prisoner as well and it would do neither of the two of them any favors.

He moved back a step with his foot and then dashed forward with a lot of speed, and when he got in front of the monster, he unleashed Brutal Fang severing the beast with over 20 flashing hits, getting all the tendrils and the even the ones that held Natalia captive.
