[Zack was certainly tame and domesticated, as much as any other bird at the ranch was. But a chocobo isn't dangerous in the same way a horse or a bull isn't dangerous. Normally they're fine unless provoked, and that's when you get a well muscled leg planting a clawed foot in your chest.
