"It's not pointless," Rialynn shook her head in response to Hisui. "Cid is entrusting us with this mission. He's brusque and tough, but he's still human. This place was wiped out over a year ago, and he's only just now assigning this quest to someone. That's got to mean something."

She pushed her wind-tossed hair away from her face, frowning as she gazed ahead. "I wish I knew his story. It can't be an easy one to tell, but he's the one of the last survivors of this place. Maybe if we do right by him and find something useful, he might tell us more about it. It's not right to let all of those stories and memories just die like that."

As a bard, history was a passion for her, especially if that history was happening right now. The truth of important events should be remembered by the generations to come, so that they could be treasured and learned from by those who sought wisdom and experience.

"Right. So artifacts first, then skeletons if we're lucky enough to explore without being bothered. Seems pretty straightforward to me!" She urged her horse onward to pick up the pace. It would be best if they could reach the city while there was still plenty of daylight, since she didn't relish the idea of spending the night in a place that had to be choked with the ghosts of those who died.
