Yuri stood there staring at the princess, unaffected by her threats. If she thought it would help her feel better, then she was free to choke him. He wasn't doing anything wrong. He felt somewhere in the back of her mind she wanted some sort of assistance but not in the form of the sugar coated words that would be said to her.

He was a blunt person, and he knew he had his own flaws. With that being said, how could he ignore someone in need.
