Sephiroth might have said something quite uncharacteristically scathing towards Tsubomi with regards to what friendship really is, or not, in his personal experience of the same. Given that being victim of the same, that ambition that Genesis had, had arguably changed so much about the path his own life would later follow. It seemed petty to think of it that way but then that could apply for anything with context stripped away.
As it was, it wasn't his place to say and he didn't really know that other Hero as well as would have justified a judgment and so simply kept his mouth shut. Fixing a hard glare between Ales and his Shadow again as it went back on the attack over what Ales wanted out of his life.
As much as Ales seemed still to insist on the contrary to what his Shadow were saying, Sephiroth understood well the conflict that were being played out before him. He'd already made the only comment he could about it, the only comment he'd be comfortable in declaring in front of others. Ultimately, as he understood these encounters, it would be up to Ales to conquer that closed-off version of himself.
