Perhaps.

[She's not far wrong, really. What purpose is there for a soldier if there are no missions to be carried out. Sephiroth wouldn't even have been brought into existence if there hadn't been a purpose for it, that project which had spawned him.

In Sephiroth's short moment of silence, a uniformed private has taken it upon himself to approach their table and place a glass of water to the one side of the Colonel. He blinks from his thoughts and the young boy is given a gracious nod for his efforts. The silver haired warrior takes a small sip once the other soldier is back out of ear shot.]

There is no greater sense of accomplishment, to achieve a set of objectives well enough to be deemed excellent.

[It sounds textbook, maybe even boring until he makes the additional comment.]

Whether that's only from habit, though, is a question I tend not to linger on for too long. I find that it dampens what doesn't need to be. We've enough to be chewing over than attempting to unravel what makes ourselves tick.

[...despite the advise from the Sage that so many have already taken in confronting their 'Shadow' selves.]
