The Most Wonderful Party of the Year

Summary: It's time for Cuppa Kupo's first annual Christmas Party! The party details are in an OOC post here and an IC post .

[It's the 23rd of December, and, as promised, Kuppa Cupo has opened its doors for the first (and hopefully not last) Christmas/Starlight party!]

[The entire restaurant is decorated for the season, complete with a large tree near the entrance. The ceiling is covered in lights, and the tables all have matching red and green tablecloths. Near the wall, the catering table is packed with food.]

[Even the helper moogles are taking part in the festivities, with many of them wearing elf or santa costumes. Whether you came early to help set up, or arrived fashionably late, enjoy!]

Thank you for your assistance. I'm Mikleo. What's your name?

[ He muses in a friendly manner as he gestures the ladder towards the center of the room. There were small thing and he was extremely grateful for her assistance. ]

[ It's a little entertaining since they both seem rather indecisive. Perhaps, they'd be able to get something done at some point. If Sephiroth didn't like the idea he would try to see if could deduct another plan for the both of them. ]

You think so?

[ He watched as Sephiroth walked over to do his deed and after seeing him looking for a chair, Mikleo offered a more stable solution-- a decent sized step ladder. He might as well use it since Selphie would throw another fit if someone else fell off the ladder. ]

Would this work?

Glad to help. [she nods, following him.] K'pandolu Tohka. It's good to meet you, Mikleo.

All right. Let's just hold that, now…

[she reaches out to help steady the ladder, and nods to him.] Let's see how it does now.

[It's in the moment that he changes hands that she worried- but it goes off without a hitch and she nods. A job clearly well done- or on the way to being so, at any rate.]

Good.

[She stays still until he's got the pins, and then relaxes for the moment, lowering her arms.]

You wouldn't have thought they'd be so much trouble, would you?

[You never know they might even look back on all this indecisiveness at a later point in their lives and be able to see just how hilarious it really is. Or perhaps even later that very same night if the mood ended up sitting just right.]

Ah-

[Quickly the appreciative nod had a flash of a smile tacked on the end of it as Sephiroth took the step ladder from Mikleo and -taking a careful peer through the front window in case anyone might then choose to enter the cafe- went about setting it up in exactly the place where Sephiroth would be able to reach to undo some of the over-decoration that had been put in place earlier.

It only seemed a short moment later that he was up above Mikleo again, stretching up and pulling out pins from in the ceiling just above the door. The first long train of glittering tinsel and holly came down in a controlled manner; breaking up the festive colors already present, just so.

Hopefully Mikleo would be there, still, to be able to help take some of this excess out of Sephiroth's hands.]

Pleased to meet you and yeah that's fine.

[ He nodded his as she held it down. He moved to grab the fallen decoration and some pins. He then continued to pin them until they looked decent and he looked down at her. ]

It's much more table now. Thank you. What do you think?

[ There is absolutely nothing wrong with being serious about decorations even if the notion will be silly in the end. Mikleo will be pretty proud of their work regardless since it seems like they both are working very hard.

Mikleo watched as well to make sure no one ran into the step ladder. He kept his firm grip on it while Sephiroth did his thing. It seemed like he was doing exactly what Mikleo was thinking in his head. When the excess was handed over he did take and set it aside or arranged it if it was dangling. ]

Huh, it's starting to look quite festive now.

[ The swordsman was pretty amused by her reaction. It meant that his little trick worked well for those who couldn't have alcoholic beverages. He couldn't monitor them all but he was going to control what he can until well you know they get drunk off their faces. ]

Sure-- you can keep doing what you want to do.

[ He chuckled. Sometimes pleasing people like Selphie was way too easy. ]

Glad to hear you're my official taste tester. It means these guys are a pretty huge success.

[She looks up at the decorations and nods, smiling.]

They're looking nice! Very festive. So- where else do we need to set them up?

Don't be ridiculous. Even if you're not eager to mingle, there are plenty here who'd enjoy mingling with you. Don't disappoint them.

[She peels off her gloves, laying them on one of the back tables where they're unlikely to be mistaken as 'lost' by a well-meaning Hero or civilian.]

[Then he describes Repede. Rukia is paying rapt attention to Yuri, staring right at him. Then she's immediately lifting herself onto the toes of her feet, scanning the crowds for signs of that familiar jagged tail of his canine companion, because that sounds adorable. She's forgotten the mistletoe incident of last year completely, which was her entire reason she'd asked if the mischievous dog was present in the first place.]

I hope so.

[No sign of him for now, though, so to the kitchens they go.]

Did you find the gift I gave you yet? I'm quite proud of it.

It's certainly-

[Just a brief pause as with a small, sharp movement the pin that would support the majority of the weight of the decorative train was driven home.]

-a lot more to it than you might think.

[And a final pin put into place then finally Sephiroth can release his hold on it completely. He keeps his hand close for a second -just in case- but then takes a step back. Crouching first to slide his legs around the edge of the table and then sitting down.

Sephiroth flashes a smile at K'pandolu and stretches his feet -black socks and all- out in front of him.]

Seems about done now though.

[Coming down the step ladder is as smooth an affair as it had been going up, no nerves or even a sliver of hesitation that Mikleo might not be there if someone was to knock the ladder, or if he might inadvertently be in the way somehow.

Sephiroth rubbed his hands together in a dusting-off motion as he stood back and glanced over the work they had just done to the ceiling above the doorway. Less is certainly more in this case, and it created a subtle difference that took nothing away from the festivity, and if nothing else might make it easier to find the doorway once the shop was full of people later.]

I was just thinking that. [A quick smile in Mikleo's direction, alongside an accompanying nod.]

Do you need a hand, at all?

Huh? Oh, uh...kind of! Bags of oats are awfully hard to hide properly, so it's part of a game. 'Hide the Oats!' The challenge lies more on the person who does the hiding. ...Instead of the seeking. .................Anyway.

[She's such a lousy liar. And she's not breaking her stride either.]

The right job? Oh, like a Water Bender! I imagine fishing would be very easy with that job equipped.

[She's already mentally sifting through the jobs she has already to see if any of them work.]

I suppose if I had Illusionist ready to go, I could use Telekinesis. What job do you recommend?

[Akane's gaze flicks briefly to his tail when she sees it move, and she smiles.]

Why do you do it, then, Dylas?

[Natalia pauses and looks at Yuri, surprised at the compliment. Did he just call her 'pretty'? And he did it so casually! It's unlikely he meant anything serious by it, but still.]

Oh. Well thank you, you're very kind.

[And she supposes it does make her a little happy. She's flattered often on account of her rank, and it isn't as if she's a slob about her appearance on any occasion. Even so, she does appreciate the notice. She follows after him, using her elbow to push her way through the door without upsetting the trays.]

This isn't typical for you, then? You weren't all that unkempt when we first met, it isn't as if you needed that much polishing.

I can help with that.

[She's starting to pull ahead; Moogle flight is built for speed in a straight line, not maneuvering around a giant party, and he's starting to get tired.]

I'm good at finding places no one else can find, kupo...

[Was that supposed to be flirty or threatening?]

Great! That's...really great! See if you can find where I put it, then. I bet you caaaan't.

[Namely because the bag of oats isn't there. What kind of person is she, lying to Moogles? Well, better to lie about oats than crush his spirit because kissing is scary. Eh, she's partied long enough, time to run.]

I'm glad that it does.

[ He replied with a small laugh to her comment. ]

There's some by the doorway to the kitchen that we need and the center of the room.

[ Mikleo made sure that he was attentive the whole time. The last thing he needed was to cause more accidents with other people. He was grateful for the trust at the very least.

Mikleo managed to get a good armful of the leftovers that were given to him after they fixed the organization of the wreaths and other Christmas decorations. ]

I'm glad you think so as well. I wasn't sure that the idea would work out but it seems like you made it work. Huh? I would appreciate some assistance. It is mostly the ones that are linger on the floor. It'd be bad if I tripped on them.

Huh, wait!

[Was she telling the truth? Will he ever find the secret getaway filled with oats and Rialynn? Will he ever be reunited with this human girl? Tamekichi asks these questions as a paw reaches out towards her as she disappears into the crowd, never to be seen again.

Until everyone comes together to a meeting, or whatever happens to the Heroes.

It's still disappointing.]

[ Yuri chuckled a bit as she caught him. He couldn't argue with that. He ruffled her head a bit. At least, however he could while she had the Santa hat on. Rukia was always nice to have around when he's working himself a bit too hard huh? The dog was probably wandering around minding his own business and playing with children if anything. He'd find his way to Rukia eventually if she looked some. ]

You will without a doubt. He's got one for you.

[ He added before retiring to the kitchen. ]

Oh? Well, let's put it this way. I didn't exactly look but I'll poke at it when I get back. Thanks in advance.

[ Yuri stared back at her. Did he say something strange? She looked at him like a deer caught in the headlights of something. He was casual about his words after all. ]

I suppose, if you want to put it that way, Princess.

[ He chuckled a little bit at her face. Ah, so that was what it was. She was embarrassed he said something nice about her. It's not like he wasn't capable of nice words. He chose to not use them often. Today was an exception and Christmas spirit right? No need to be Scrooge Mcduck now. ]

Not at all. I hate dressing up. Furthermore I don't like being groomed to look a certain so I suppose it's nice to choose how I want to dress.

[ Yuri shrugged as he followed her with the trays. ]

That's a relief off everyone's minds. And hopefully they'll appreciate the work you've done.

[she smiles back for a moment, but goes quiet, tail flicking. Given the time of year, she's a little worried.]

How have you been holding up?

The doorway and the center… All right. The center might give us a little more trouble- should we do that first, or second?

[There are actually two presents for Yuri. One is a large white murder cowboy hat with a package of moustache stencils. Don't ask, she thought it was funny. The other is a pair of elemental crystals - ice and fire - that he can integrate into his weapon or armor. She needs her friends to be safe.]

Certainly. I think you'll enjoy what I picked out.

[The crystals, anyway. She just hopes she's there to see the look on his face for the other package. For now, they need to work so they can get back to the party as soon as possible.]
