[It's the 23rd of December, and, as promised, Kuppa Cupo has opened its doors for the first (and hopefully not last) Christmas/Starlight party!]

[The entire restaurant is decorated for the season, complete with a large tree near the entrance. The ceiling is covered in lights, and the tables all have matching red and green tablecloths. Near the wall, the catering table is packed with food.]

[Even the helper moogles are taking part in the festivities, with many of them wearing elf or santa costumes. Whether you came early to help set up, or arrived fashionably late, enjoy!]

[It could be funny! But Dylas usually doesn't laugh unless he's laughing at someone, so he instead exhales a sigh of relief, just glad that Akane isn't hurt.]

I...yeah, I came with someone, I guess. I was just passing by and figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out, too.

[That's a blatant lie, he totally dressed up for an opportunity to sit in the corner and watch other people party. Even if he does fill out a suit well. Before anyone can assume he came with a date, he glances in the direction of his Moogle on the opposite side of the room.]

You look good, too. Red suits you, I think.

[sesenta]

You asked someone on a date?! Congratulations!

[She clasps his hand warmly, beaming from ear to ear. She's so proud of you, ex-roomie. Guess that glance wasn't enough to stop her from leaping to the most obvious conclusion. She wasn't expecting any compliments toward herself, though, and it earns a happy blush as she lays a hand to her cheek.]

Do you really think so? It's such a daring color, I wasn't sure I could pull it off.

[If not for the season, she definitely wouldn't have tried.]

I'm really glad you came. I wasn't sure if you would, but I brought a present for you just in case. Wait right here!

[She darts off before any objections can be made. When she returns, she holds a wrapped box in her hands. What's inside? Why, an economy-sized bottle of fancy herbal shampoo and conditioner. She figures he probably goes through a lot, given all of that fur and how big he is.]

I wanted to bake you something, but it didn't turn out so well. I think you'll like this better.

[sullenstallion]

Wha—no, never! I'm here with Koporo!

[At the mention of his name, Koporo looks over and gives Dylas a friendly wave! And he pauses. And he keeps waving, higher and higher until Dylas finally waves back. Once he's taken his hand back from Akane, he uses it to cover his mouth. He feels like he's going to melt.]

Maybe that's why it works. No one is expecting red. I don't really know anything about fashion, but...something like that, anyways.

[He waits for her to come back, but he feels more and more flustered. His tail is swishing back and forth nervously (there's a cute little ring in his pants for his tail, not that anyone can see it). He doesn't have anything for her. Shit.]

Baking's pretty tricky. If you don't practice, it gets harder.

[He would know, he stopped baking for a year when his diet changed. Womp, womp.]

This is...pretty big. I wasn't really expecting anything. I'll have to make it up to you.

[Akane smiles and shakes her head, not even phased by the vehement clarification. (Although it's too bad, she's curious to see what kind of person he'd want to date.]

You don't need to. Just come visit sometime! You can see Jumpy, he's pretty cute.

[Don't be jealous of her rabbit's carrots, though.]

We moved him to the basement for the winter so he doesn't get too cold outside.

[It occurs to her that he speaks of baking like he's done it fairly frequently, and that catches her attention.]

...You know how to bake? Really?

Is that the name of your rabbit? Yeah, you should keep him warm. There aren't any pets at our place, but Midna keeps complaining about the fur anyways.

[He can probably see the hutch from a window. Or just passing by. He's taller than your average fence, after all. What a tasty-looking lagomorph. Ad it's not his fault he sheds a little.

He's ears perk a little at the question. He's surprised to hear it, but it wasn't like he baked much when they lived together.]

Yep. I used to work at a restaurant before all of this [he gestures down to his hooves; he's not wearing shoes beneath the suit] happened. I had to bake and sell bread to help out, but I've been selling fish ever since.

[He scratches his neck. Maybe she'd think this is a cool thing?]

I can catch fish with my hands. Like a bear.

[He just slashes them out of the water.]

Oh, you shed? ...I suppose you would, that's only natural.

[She looks surprised even so, since she never really thought about it. There can't be that much, can there? Then again, he is very tall... But she'd rather talk about baking and his past. She knows now he's a wendigo. But was she able to read his file during the investigation?]

I see... Don't worry about it. I'm sure your buns are still great!

[She says it so innocently, and yet...]

You can hand-fish?! You must have incredible reflexes!

[Akane is visibly impressed, and lays her cheek against her hand.]

Do you think I could see it sometime? When the water isn't freezing, I mean.

[Koporo is a terrible Moogle, but he keeps Dylas' file locked.]

Yeah. I do. I don't even know why I brought it up, just forget I ever told you that.

[As with many things, the euphemism goes right over Dylas' head, and he returns Akane's joke with unintentional innocence, tail starting to sway behind him a little as he feels more flustered.]

My buns are pretty solid, yeah, but I don't think I could bake a cake or a pastry without checking a recipe. I've been trying to get better at it and not let my restored palate go to waste.

[His ass is flatter than the street, though, don't get him wrong.]

I can do that. There are still a few places where the water runs a bit too quickly for it to freeze. I'm still out there every morning catching fish to sell before the sun rises.

[He's out there in freezing cold weather standing in freezing cold water like it's nothing.]

[He's so lucky. ...Until it's summer time, anyway, then he probably suffers terribly under all that thick fur.]

Really? I'd love that, thank you very much! Maybe I can do it too. They'll call me Akane, the Fish Slapper!

[She smiles against her fingertips.]

Maybe it's not as prestigious a title as I thought, but it sounded cool in my head.

If you have the right Job on, who knows? You could probably do it, too.

[Though whether or not there's a job for standing knee or waist deep in freezing water, well.]

You'd have to be careful not to freeze. And you'd need to take it seriously. I don't just do it because I love splashing in the water or something like that.

[An innocent swish of his tail. He loves splashing in the water, it's exactly how he discovered this fun way to catch fish.]

The right job? Oh, like a Water Bender! I imagine fishing would be very easy with that job equipped.

[She's already mentally sifting through the jobs she has already to see if any of them work.]

I suppose if I had Illusionist ready to go, I could use Telekinesis. What job do you recommend?

[Akane's gaze flicks briefly to his tail when she sees it move, and she smiles.]
