The Most Wonderful Party of the Year
Who: Anyone and everyone!
Where: Cuppa Kupo
When: December 23rd
Summary: It's time for Cuppa Kupo's first annual Christmas Party! The party details are in an OOC post here and an IC post .
Warnings: None! (At the moment, anyway).

[It's the 23rd of December, and, as promised, Kuppa Cupo has opened its doors for the first (and hopefully not last) Christmas/Starlight party!]
[The entire restaurant is decorated for the season, complete with a large tree near the entrance. The ceiling is covered in lights, and the tables all have matching red and green tablecloths. Near the wall, the catering table is packed with food.]
[Even the helper moogles are taking part in the festivities, with many of them wearing elf or santa costumes. Whether you came early to help set up, or arrived fashionably late, enjoy!]

Can I offer any help with that?

It seems Sephiroth had gotten himself into a tiny bit of a predicament; that is, he seems to be a pin short and just so happened to look over his shoulder as she asked. If he moves, it's likely that the whole train he's just spent time getting up might fall again, and along with the stretched-way he's reaching, it's all a bit of a balancing act currently.
There is a small pot of flat-headed pins set on the adjacent table, as only a fool would have put it on the table that they would then be climbing on.]
Hm, yes. Could you?
[He can't quite see the pot of pins from where he's standing but hopefully it's not too much of a puzzle.]
no subject
More important, though it takes a moment or two, she grasps what he's after and nods.]
Of course. Just a moment…
[She takes the pot, since he'll know better how many he needs, and comes over to hold it up.]
Can you reach it? [she's relatively tall for a miqo'te, but still…]
no subject
Stretching out an arm towards her proved he might knock the pot over out of her hands instead of taking just one but Sephiroth has more intelligence than to just keep trying to reach. Already the backs of his legs and lower back were starting to ache from how he's holding up the decoration waiting for that last pin, so instead he waves her around the other side of the table.]
Around this side-
[She might have to move another chair out of the way but then -maybe- if he switched his hands he'd be able to reach.]
no subject
[she moves, spending as little time moving the chair as she can although she notes it. If this doesn't work then- well, hopefully it will- and holds the pot up again, stretching up as much as she can.]
Any better?
no subject
As quickly as he can make it Sephiroth brings the hand that had been outstretched to meet the other, deftly changing the supporting fingers for the decoration and adjusting his balance. The relief down the one side of his body instant as he briefly chews on the inside corner of his mouth -almost enough to produce a pout- before locking his eye contact on to where K'pandolu has moved too.]
That's great.
[So much easier now as he successfully dips fingers into the shallow pot and takes out two or three of the small pins.]
no subject
Good.
[She stays still until he's got the pins, and then relaxes for the moment, lowering her arms.]
You wouldn't have thought they'd be so much trouble, would you?
no subject
[Just a brief pause as with a small, sharp movement the pin that would support the majority of the weight of the decorative train was driven home.]
-a lot more to it than you might think.
[And a final pin put into place then finally Sephiroth can release his hold on it completely. He keeps his hand close for a second -just in case- but then takes a step back. Crouching first to slide his legs around the edge of the table and then sitting down.
Sephiroth flashes a smile at K'pandolu and stretches his feet -black socks and all- out in front of him.]
Seems about done now though.
no subject
That's a relief off everyone's minds. And hopefully they'll appreciate the work you've done.
[she smiles back for a moment, but goes quiet, tail flicking. Given the time of year, she's a little worried.]
How have you been holding up?
no subject
It's been something different, for sure-
[He stops, noting the sudden quiet-and-tail-flick. He's really starting to get the hang of miqo'te expressions; who'd have thought!
Sephiroth tries not to let his inward flinch at her question show too much on his face, but the slight tightening to the space between his eyebrows wouldn't be hard for her to miss. A second later though, that hardness softens a little.]
I've been....holding up. [Ugh-]
It's difficult for everyone this year.
no subject
She's been around long enough, surely. Certainly enough she doesn't miss that change, her own expression dropping a little. She nods after a moment, hands coming together.]
That's certainly true… Perhaps because the battles are that much closer. But I'm glad to hear that. [she offers a quick smile, tail curling slightly.] The year's end comes, but- so does the beginning of the next, doesn't it? So- I believe- there's hope yet.
no subject
It's at the front of everyone's mind that it could be the last Starlight. Not only here on Crystallis, but on any other worlds-equivalent as well. I think Heroes, in particular, are sharply aware of that-
[There'd be no awkward beneath any mistletoe this year. No fireworks while keeping another warm. Sephiroth goes silent, his eyes following an unseen pattern on the floor as those thoughts go on behind his eyes. Eventually he looks up.]
-you know, I've never been one to hope.
no subject
Yes. So much has happened…
[And whatever happens, they're likely to take the brunt of it- the thrust of the attack, the best opportunity there is. K'pandolu stays quiet, thoughts on a similar path. Maybe it'll be the last chance for a lot of things. But still…
She raises her eyebrows, surprised.]
No? I've… thought it was something to help sustain you while fighting. But… you don't?
no subject
[There a hint of a more-confident attitude in his tone of voice that's reflected in the quick sharpness which he answers her. Not looking away from her face, but for a subtle softening of his eyes as Sephiroth then blinks and his eyebrows start to draw in towards what might be considered a half-frown.
His generic pondering face, really.]
Hope is too flighty. Too much ambiguity is a disadvantage.
You have to have goals and objectives, else how do you even go about defining what it is you're fighting for?
no subject
[she twitches one ear back, head tilted lightly.]
Did that ever happen to you?
no subject
You mean...like a mission where the objectives change or adapt? Sometimes.
[Applying that to their current circumstances though...]
It bothers me that a mission, if you will, that is so large-scale as the one we're engaged in doesn't have much more than an obscure heading, at this point. I guess.
