"Uh-" Kaji's face falls and some of his cool, collected attitude flickers at Jaune's question. Caught him off-guard, and he has the sudden memory of him and Marshal Nevada trying to lasso a chocobo to very poor results.

"Well, I've been here a while," Kaji tries to explain. "Most of us have a bird of our own as a partner. They're really effective transportation..."

"...but, yeah, they can be a little temperamental."

Pen-Pen trots back over to Kaji's side, looks up at Jaune and quacks once.

Kaji stubs out his cigarette and offers his hand to Jaune. "Ryoji Kaji. But, everybody just uses my last name. And this is Pen-Pen."
