A Month in the Life of Jaune
This is the worst.
[Jaune’s voice cracks as he complains to the empty room. Three days he had been laid up with the flu. Fever, aches, a runny nose, a cough like he’d never had. His optimism that it will end soon is wearing thin at this point – if anything, it’s getting worse, since that cough hadn’t been there yesterday. At least, he thinks it was yesterday. The days kind of blend together when you sleep all day. He coughs miserably then grabs a tissue and blows his nose before tossing it weakly in the general direction of the trash can with the rest, not caring if it goes in or not.
It’s the first time he’s been sick and his mom hasn’t been there to take care of him, too, which really isn’t helping. She always made sure he had plenty of soup and tea. And while he could go out into the kitchen and raid the place for some, he’s really comfy and it’s just so much work right now. His moogle was… trying, he supposed, but it was clear he had no idea how to care for a sick human. He had considered calling his housemates, but Chrom and Donny always seemed so busy and Pyrrha… well, things were still weird between the two of them. Besides it wasn’t like he is actually dying, despite how it feels. He’ll get through this. It’s already been three days. It’ll pass soon, right?
He coughs again and has to sit up and bend over due to the force of it before flopping back down with a moan and curling back up.He sees Pumpkin Pete fly off, muttering something about getting someone because moogle medicine didn't seem to be working.]

Back Amongst the Living
[It’s been a week (he thinks) since he’s been out and about – the flu really did a number on him. But now that he’s all better, he’s going to enjoy some fresh air, something he never knew he missed, and grab some groceries for the house while he’s out. He takes his time going there, though, enjoying the weather and the people around him. He’s not really looking at anything in particular, oblivious to his surroundings as he strolls down the street.]
----------
Never a Dull Moment
[Jaune’s really didn't know how he got himself in these situations. He was minding his own business, taking a walk in the park, and the next he was being chased by a chocobo. He didn't even know what he did wrong. He had given it a pat on the beak as he passed by it, and it squawked and tried to bite him. So he booked it. And it gave chase.
To anyone else, it was probably a comedic sight, the teen running frantically and crying apologies for the unknown grievance. Jaune, though, was in trouble. The chocobo was much faster than him, and any second it would catch up to him. He looked around frantically for some sort of haven. A box, a pipe, anything would do. He nearly cried in relief when he saw an easily climbable tree. He scrambled up to safety, just barely avoiding getting his ankles nibbled and continued to cry at the beast.]
I'm sorry, okay! Now go away! Please?

It was no big deal, right? Friends loved each other, that was normal. It was just platonic affection, right? Maybe. Crap. This was so not his area.
Breath, Jaune.
If Pyrrha isn't going to make a big deal over it, then neither is he. He's trying to make things less awkward here, not more.]
Y-yeah. I'm sure I can do that.
[Well, he tried, but now there's an awkward silence between them. Gotta come up with something to make it better, fast.]
Sooooo that soup smells good.
[Nailed it.]
no subject
[Yup.
Good.
Just like the soup.
...Oh! Yes. The soup.
A good distraction.
That is also good.]
Right, the soup! Here, you should try some before it gets cold.
[And without even thinking about it, she lifts the spoon out for him, cupping her hand underneath as she blows on it to cool it off, moving it toward his face.]
no subject
Back to the spoon.
The spoon she's feeding him with.
What a terrible choice for a distraction.
He should stop her. He should because this is weird. Friends don't feed other friends. But Pyrrha's a nurturing soul, so this is normal, right? And normal is what they're going for, so there's only one thing to do, really: let her.
It's a little weird, sure, but it's also kind of nice how much she cares. So he opens his mouth and accepts the food, smiling at the taste.]
That's really good.
[And there's only a whole bowl left for her to feed him with.]
no subject
Can you take another bite, or do you want me to leave it for you? It won't be as good when it gets cold.
no subject
[He wants more, he really does. He's just not sure he can take it from her - he's conflicted enough without her feeding him.]
Maybe some of that tea?
[There's no way she'll hold the cup for him, right? That's just an accident waiting to happen.]
no subject
[Of course she's holding the cup for him.]
no subject
Maybe I should take that? So it doesn't spill, I mean.
[She won't spill it, and he knows it. If anything, he'll be the one to spill it on himself. But it was that or hold the cup over her hand and that seemed liked a worse idea.]
no subject
All right. Here, be careful. It's hot.
no subject
Thanks.
[He reaches out to take the steaming mug with two hands, his fingers brushing over hers, and he nearly drops it, face suddenly warm. Is it hot in here? It's definitely hot in here. And he has a fever and is holding a hot cup. Yeah.
It's a good thing Pyrrha didn't let go of the mug right away, though, otherwise he really would have spilled boiling hot liquid all over himself.]
no subject
...Is there anything else you'd like?
no subject
Nah, this is more than enough for now.
[He smiles at her again and before he realizes it his free hand is on top of hers.]
Thanks for coming to see me.
skreeeeeeee that icon is unfair
I'll stay as long as you like.
That line is unfair!
[There's a good chance Jaune's face is bright red now, though whether it's the fever or Pyrrha that's causing it is anybody's guess.]
no subject
[She nods, blushing a little herself.]
no subject
But the way she was looking at him, and the way her hand felt...
He's not fully aware of himself until his eyes are closed and his lips are on hers.]
1/2
2/2
J-Jaune, you're still sick...! I mean, that was wonderful, and - well, later, yes, but...!
Re: 2/2
R-right, sorry.
[He leans back, frowning.]
I don't know what came over me there.
Re: 2/2
[She hasn't let go of his hand.]
But nice.
[A small smile.]
Very nice.
no subject
[There's a hint of uncertainty in his tone. Wait, so she did still like him? Crap, that meant he still has to sort out his feelings. This really shouldn't be as hard as it is.]
no subject
[She frowns momentarily, though, gently squeezing his hand as she takes a breath.]
...I want to make sure you didn't kiss me because you're still feeling hazy from your fever, or because you felt obligated to return my feelings. I want it to come from your heart, Jaune.
[A pause, as she gathers herself.]
I know it's not fair of me to demand an answer right now, so if you need some time to think, that's fine.
no subject
I think I might feel that way? I don't know. It's... complicated.
[Because that didn't sound lame.
He sighs.]
I'm sorry, Pyrrha. You're trying so hard and I'm just making things worse over here.
[It's even worse now that he's aware of how his actions are affecting her.]
no subject
...I know. And I'm sorry too. But I know you're trying.
[She gives his hand another squeeze.]
I know how I feel, Jaune. I've had plenty of time to decide that. And that's why I want to give you the time to sort out your own feelings.
no subject
Thanks, Pyrrha.
[Now if only he knew where to start.]
But, uh... If things don't.. I mean, if I...
[Take a breath.]
We'll still be friends no matter what, right?
no subject
[That, at least, she's sure of.]
