Chiaki's voice suddenly emerges from the crowd as she steps forward, stopping short of actively defending her like Jack but still placing herself in front of the other Heroes. "I spoke with you once, about hope and despair. Do you remember? You told me there was much I didn't understand - couldn't understand. But my beliefs haven't changed."
Closing her eyes and bowing her head for a moment, she opens them again to look Kalki straight in the eye. "I know what it looks like, when hope is twisted by despair. When someone believes, with the whole of their being, that what they're doing will help everyone."
She takes a deep breath, her body trembling slightly. "I know it because I've lived through it... and died by it. I know it because my world is full of people who have had their hope twisted that way. And it's not a paradise. It's the farthest thing from it."
Another step forward. "But we have a chance to stop that from happening here. Do you really want to build a new world on the ashes of this one? A world born from the despair and fear of the people who live in the shadow of the Calamity?"
And, once again, as she did to Garland, she extends her hand. "Wouldn't it be better to save and preserve this one with the power of hope and belief? It's not too late. It's never too late."
