In response to Kenshin's question, Akane was screaming.
"Aaaaaaaahhhh! AAAAAHHHHH!"
She was staring down at her white mage's robes, the lower half covered in what was definitely sticky red blood. "My legs...what happened to...?!" Her nails scratched at the hard rock beneath her as she rolled onto her backside, trying to drag herself back--
...and there were her legs, tangled in the robes, moving exactly how they were supposed to. Confusion drove away her panic as she blinked, and blinked again, then slowly leaned forward to touch a trembling hand to her wet clothes. But that was definitely blood, she would have recognized the smell anywhere.
A drop of crimson spattered on the back of her hand. From above? She tilted her head back.
On the cliff face up above her was an unrecognizable lump of mangled meat and sickly yellow feathers. Whatever it was, whatever it once had been, it was dripping on her. Akane hooked an arm around her stomach as she felt it turn a couple of flips and quickly jerked her gaze away to take a few sharp, shallow breaths.
"I...I-I'm okay..." As okay as anyone could be, really, in spite of getting pancaked by a horned horror, brought back to life, and hustled into a hospital. In fact, she was much better than 'okay,' her condition should have been so much worse. Her brown hair hung in loose curls down her back, her own signs of maturity subtle but sure.
Except for her chest. She was still fairly unremarkable in that aspect.
Clutching a fist over her heart, she breathed deeply to calm herself and gather her thoughts. Someone had said her name just now, and it was a voice she recognized. Opening her eyes she turned her head, and the sight of her brother was enough to coax a relieved smile to her pale face. "Aoi...! What are we doing out here?" The last she remembered, she was in a hospital, and she'd been only vaguely aware of even that. "What is this place?"
