"Is everyone alright?" Duster called out after the last long hallway of golems. Why these people? Who are they? How did there get to be so many of them? All interesting questions.

His shoes were waterlogged by then, making the trek all the more uncomfortable, yet they had to remain on his feet else he'd fall over. This was the true tragedy of the Temple.

"There's a room up ahead." He walked in, realizing that it was surprisingly empty save for some treasure chest. Surely this was a resting place to reward them for fighting for so long.

"Yeah," Sheena muttered, still reeling at something besides the number of golems. "Some of those spells and artes, though. They were like the ones from home--which is kind of creepy."

She fell silent as she thought about what she knew about the attacks, trying to formulate a strategy to lessen their effects, when Duster walked into the room ahead. Peering over his shoulder, she placed a hand on his arm.

"Hold up. Something doesn't seem right," she said. "Why would anyone just leave a treasure chest here all by itself? It kinda feels like bait."

Bait for what, she had no clue.

Duster stopped in his tracks and twisted around to watch Sheena. "Are they people from your world?" It would be just like Kalki to remind the Heroes of what they had left, what they may never get. If Sheena's companions were here, who was to say that golems resembling Duster's friends wouldn't appear?

"This is a puzzle room," Duster replied as if he knew exactly what was to come. "They have these giant rooms inside castles that make you think there's nothing to find except for cheap treasure. The trick is to find the secret tunnel to another room." A nod. "I fell for something like that years ago."

Albel flexed the metal fingers of his gauntlet, just thankful that he'd been able to fix it before coming. Not to mention add some water protection. Everything was so wet, it would have been impossible otherwise.

"He isn't wrong," he had to agree with Duster. "I've seen things hidden in strange places. Of course, we also had a Ring of Disintegration at the time, to rid ourselves of obstacles in our way..."

That would be nice to have again. It was probably a good thing it couldn't target humanoids, though, with Albel.

"At the same time, it could just as well be a trap. Be on your guard." He drew the Crimson Scourge, looking around the room.

Sheena glanced at Albel and chuckled. "I never told you about the ruins we explored back home, did I? They had their own special puzzles and traps." So, she was more than used to it. Her laughter faded and she looked around. "One of them was the Temple of Water, ironically," she said with some sadness. "And we had something called a Sorcerer's Ring to help us through it. I wonder if there's something like that here..."

She turned to Duster and shook her head. "I don't think so. Some of the spells they did weren't familiar--which makes this whole thing even weirder." What exactly had Kalki done?

Looking back into the room, she nodded. "I'd say it's definitely a trap, but we won't know for sure until we enter, right?" And like Albel, she drew her katana before stepping forward.

Duster, having no weapon on him, held his concertina tight to his chest as if it would offer protection. There was nothing greeting them, save for the walls and the glowing designs painted on them. It provided illumination, if nothing else.

"Looks like--" And then he was gone. Just as he turned his head away from the wall, one of the eyes rotated to look directly at Duster. It continued to move towards Sheena and Albel.
wickedone: (ehhh?)

Because Albel would screw this puzzle up so many times.

"What just happened?" Albel exclaimed, looking around. Duster was just gone. Poof!

He noticed the eye just before it rotated again. "What's tha -- "

Double poof. Whoops.

And because I did while playing the game...LOL

"Duster? Albel?" What the hell just happened? One second they were there, and the next--gone. She hadn't heard anything, but she looked down for a trap door anyway.

And didn't find one. So, where did they go?

And that's when she saw the rotating eye, moving towards her.

"Oh, you've got to--"

Hey, guys. Wait for her.

Just past the entrance, Duster stood surprised and confused at what had happened. One minute, he was walking down a narrow pathway, and then the next step took him here.

Something was up.

"You're here, too?"
wickedone: (let's go!)

"What the hell was that?" Albel demanded (to no one in particular, at least) once he'd reappeared beside Duster. "This is where we started!"

He groaned, thoroughly irritated. This was going to be "a thing," wasn't it? This temple was going to be the worst.

"--be kidding me!" Sheena finished as the effect released her, not letting a little thing like instantaneous teleportation keep her from talking. Seeing Duster and Albel beside her, she nodded in confirmation.

"I was hoping we'd wind up in the same place," she said. "Which looks like the entrance," she finished slowly. Groaning, she asked, "We're going to have to go through all that again, aren't we?" Sighing, she gave one piece of advice.

"Just watch for those eyes on the walls."

"The eyes?" Right, the eyes on the wall. The ones that didn't look like they were doing anything other than hanging around, decorating the place. The eyes that were aligned along the wall to the other side of the room.

"Did they cast magic or something?" He hadn't seen what happened, as he was looking the other way. That showed him not to pay attention to his surroundings.

"Yeah, the eyes." Sheena nodded towards the one closest to them. "It starts to glow when you get near it, and whether magic or not, it teleports you back here."

To demonstrate, she approaches it, and sure enough, glowing eyeball and ninja moved right back to a few feet behind her.

"See?" She looked around. "We somehow avoided them before--unless they weren't active until we set off one--or the monsters were let loose. Now, we just have to figure out how to move through." She smiled.

"And I have an idea."
